Light and airy, this apartment near Antwerp was designed by interior architect Arjaan De Feyter. Located within one of four new-build blocks called The Cubes, they were developed by Brussels-based architecture firm Bogdan & Van Broeck. Comprising partly of a former brewery and malt house, The Cubes have been designed for use as apartments, offices, artists studios, a museum and public squares. An empty shell when purchased by the designer's client, the apartment has been transformed into a comfortable and cohesive residence with warm materials and a clean, contemporary finish.
Though simple in design, the craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout. I particularly love the kitchen cabinetry which is constructed from grained solid wood and the wetroom-style ensuite with walk-in shower. Both of these spaces feature beautiful brass hardware, adding further texture and warmth. The tall window in the kitchen is a standout element, while the long gauzy curtains accentuate the height and frame the view beautifully.
