Today's project is by Refine Design Studio, an interior design agency based in Stockholm. Working across interior design, architecture and project management, Refine Design Studio work closely with their clients to realise and exceed their vision, creating cohesive and authentic spaces. For this stunning residence, the family were returning home from living abroad and wanted to combine a distinctly Scandinavian colour palette, with inspiration gained from their time spent overseas.

Combining the family's preferred modern design aesthetic with the late 19th century architecture, the 120sqm apartment features sprawling ceilings and elaborate cornicing. These original features create an interesting juxtaposition between old and new, highlighting the best of both, without creating conflict between the two. A large social living room with openness to the kitchen and three bedrooms provides the perfect footprint to suit the family's lifestyle.

The stunning apartment has been furnished with beautiful Scandinavian furniture, lighting and accessories. Two of my favourite pieces in the living and dining areas include the Mass Productions Crown Easy Chairs and the Palais dining table by Asplund. The built in shelves and coffee table showcase a gorgeous mix of sculptural ceramics, glass ware and books, while the combination of textiles - rugs, cushions and throws - provide a lived in, cosy feel.

Though compact, the master bedroom is neat and stylish thanks to a custom made wardrobe solution designed to maximise storage. A colour palette of soft greys and greens pair beautifully with the warm oak finishes, creating the perfect Scandinavian feel. An enviable mix of lighting including the &Tradition Formakmi pendants and N°214 wall lamps by DCW éditions complete the space.

The gorgeous children's room created for the family's two daughters was designed to encourage play, in their favourite colour pink. It features a specially made bunk bed with upholstered headboards and a staircase complete with storage in each of the steps leading to the upper bed.

The third bedroom has been created as a guest room, with a homely hotel feeling for family and friends who stay over.

With a continuation of grey tones and Scandinavian design pieces - the &Tradition Loafer chair in the corner is another favourite - this inspiring home has a wonderful sense of warmth and cohesion. What a lovely way for the family to settle back into Sweden!
