New Nordic design brand PROJECTKIN was born out of a desire to permanently change the standards for travel products and the way people travel. Simply put, it is about moving away from consumption for the sake of consumption and creating things of true quality. Launching with collections designed by renowned Copenhagen-based designers Thomas Bentzen and Boris Berlin, all of the travel bags and suitcases are based on biodegradable and natural materials. With a clean, minimal aesthetic that is undoubtedly Nordic, the products are ideal for eco and design conscious travellers.

PROJECTKIN have chosen to collaborate with designers who work within the Nordic design philosophy of minimalism and functionality, while sharing the same beliefs around sustainability. The Suitcases, designed by Boris Berlin, are created from a unique composition of flax and bioplastic that mimics the durability of plastic used in traditional suitcases. The Travel bags designed by Thomas Bentzen, are made from a strong canvas blend of hemp and flax – thereby avoiding the use of water and pesticide demanding cotton.

Product longevity is a cornerstone of the PROJECTKIN sustainability strategy, and in order to bring new and outstanding sustainable materials to the travel goods market, the products are tested to meet the demands of the modern traveler. You can read more about the testing process here

Using materials from nature give the products a raw and natural look and feel that is both unique to the brand and instantly recognisable.

I'm sure like me, some of you will be thinking about the effects of travel (beyond luggage and accessories), on the planet. I love that PROJECTKIN addresses this...

"The challenge we face as mindful explorers is that travelling presents a paradox. On one hand, we want to see the world. On the other hand, travelling is a major source of human-driven carbon emissions. To preserve the gift that is our planet, we must do better. PROJECTKIN is a movement in response to this paradox. We want to create better alternatives for the mindful traveller. By putting action into practice, we challenge the travel industry and consumers to become more conscious."

To celebrate the launch, PROJECTKIN has created an inspiring brand video. Featuring the beautiful range of products, and making me miss Copenhagen (I wish I were checking into The Audo!) I highly recommend checking it out.

The first two collections are available to explore here, with more to come.
