New Zealand-based lighting studio Nightworks are known worldwide for their exquisite lighting designs. An original design approach, meticulous attention to detail and products designed to last in solid raw material ensure that every project stands out from the ordinary. Their latest release, Tasman, is a family of modular pendant lights that express a gentle waving form. A poetic design, developed to its fullest potential, Tasman is a beautiful alternative to traditional lineal pendants, designed to harmoniously integrate into any interior environment.
Available in single, double and triple curve options, the wave form is accentuated as further curve modules are added. The minimal exterior conceals a clever electrical system that allows for the modules to connect together seamlessly, while the dimmable LED is diffused to offer a soft white glow.
"Tasman began as a simple line sketch of three waves, drawing inspiration from our love of the ocean. We wanted to create a product that stood out in the fiercely competitive lineal pendant market, to make something modular, yet sculptural was paramount."—Nightworks Co-founder and Lighting Designer Ben Wahrlich
Made with sustainability in mind, the precision machined components are made from recycled aluminium that can be recycled again at end of life. The design utilises energy efficient LED technology and the packaging is plastic free.
"Named Tasman in reference to the Tasman Sea that connects New Zealand and Australia, the range is available in four colours that reference the natural seascapes throughout the two countries: Salt, Navy, Bay and Bonfire."—Nightworks Co-founder and Lighting Designer Ben Wahrlich
The name Tasman and the inspiration behind the design perfectly reflect the brand’s unique history. Founded in New Zealand in 2019 by husband and wife team, Ben and Kiri Wahrlich, Nightworks was originally established in 2008 in Sydney, Australia - as award-winning lighting studio ANAESTHETIC. Quickly establishing a loyal following around the world, the couple returned to New Zealand in 2017 where they sought to refresh the brand to echo a modern Kiwi lifestyle, and in doing so, Nightworks was born.
A stunning collection that is sure to make waves, Tasman has already been selected as a finalist in the 2022 Best Awards.
