Back when we were finishing our home build, I talked about wanting to install a bench seat upstairs. The space alongside the big windows in our open-plan living area is calling for it. My vision is for a very simple custom-made wood or even concrete bench, while my husband likes the idea of a built-in with storage. We even had the dining table top custom made in a narrow size to allow for it. Until that idea comes to fruition, I've decided that a freestanding bench seat is the way to go. That way I can move it around for styling proposes, and I have always loved the idea of having a bench seat or occasional chair in the bedroom. If you have limited space like us, a narrow bench seat is the best option, but a chair provides a nice finishing touch. Not just for sitting on, bedroom seating is handy for draping clothes on or displaying nice things. They also make good side tables! Here's some recent inspiration.
