An Architect Duo's Charming Melbourne Home

While the bright blue front door (seen in the bottom image) of this Victorian Terrace home in Melbourne leads the way to a more restrained colour palette, it certainly promises loads of charm. Designed by architect/owner duo Annick Houle and Stephen O’Connor of O’Connor and Houle Architecture, the home's cosy living room below is all kids of wonderful with the eclectic gallery wall, Lampe Gras lighting  and suspended fireplace.

The couple's impressive art collection provides warmth and interest to every room, even the stunning kitchen which features a mix of American oak veneer cabinetry and Cararra marble benchtops.  I love the bold monochrome palette and open shelving.

The open plan sitting area and study is beautifully light and spacious. The vintage Hans Wegner table that Annick and Stephen bought while living in the US fits in beautifully with the built in shelving, while the Tom Dixon pendant adds a modern touch. The Artworks are by Claes Oldenburg.

The home's new extension, which provides a wonderful indoor outdoor flow, was designed around the 4.5m antique baker’s bench shown above. Adding a warm rustic touch as well as providing the focus of many family activities, the dining table is paired with a set of iconic Alvar Aalto chairs by Artek
