Completed this year, Forest House by NZ-based Fearon Hay Architects is set at the foot of the Waitakere ranges. An area in the Auckland region that features lush native rainforest, scenic coastline and windswept black-sand beaches, the home's collection of timber clad, gabled structures fit beautifully into the rugged surroundings. Exterior shells of native timber boards and shingle roof are founded over cast in situ concrete masses, bracketing the interior spaces within, while courtyards provide the perfect space for cooking and fire. Known for their incredible craftsmanship and ability to apply their design-led approach to a broad range of typologies located in diverse environments, Fearon Hay have once again delivered a master piece.
