As someone who wears a watch everyday, quality is really important to me. I'm drawn to classic designs but I also love to find something unique. Based in Stockholm, TID is a watch brand that immediately struck a chord. Not only are their designs aesthetically beautiful, they offer limited edition watches featuring unique elements. TID (which is the Swedish word for ‘time’) was founded in 2012 by Ola. E Bernestål, Petrus Palmér and design studio Form Us With Love's Jonas Pettersson and John Löfgren. The collection includes two series, No1 and No2 in a choice of three different faces; white, black and the new steel option. The faces are available in two different sizes and there is also an extensive range of wristbands, allowing you to change the look to match your outfit or mood.
My current watches have large white faces so I decided to go with the Steel face in the smaller size, and I couldn't be happier. The watch features a milled solid stainless steel case designed for durability and it looks amazing. Even better in real life! Matched with a monochromatic brushed face and hands, it appears to be crafted from a solid piece of steel. My No.2 version also features domed sapphire glass and Swiss made movement. An exquisite yet robust watch that goes superbly with any of the TID Wristbands, choosing one of these was a little tougher! The collection includes four beautiful leather options but I decided on the simple black nylon strap, because again I wanted something different from my current watches. As an alternative strap, I couldn't resist getting one of the TID Twain wristbands which are made from a combination of revived textile sourced from Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat and vegetable tanned leather left-overs. Not only do they look striking, they are kind to the environment. From the six gorgeous colours on offer I chose Mineral. The perfect pale grey, I love the textural look of the twain. The underside is made from Swedish vegetable tanned leather from the organic tannery Tärnsjö Garveri, making it a dream to wear.
In addition to their webshop, TID have a beautiful Brand Store in Stockholm. Designed by the TID team in collaboration with Paul Vaugoyeau, it features white walls and concrete floors paired with exquisite furniture custom made from American Douglas pine. A communal table for meetings and shelving made from wide planks makes up the main elements, while marble adorns the window display. Isn't it stunning? I really hope to visit one day!
