I woke up excited this morning because it's the start of my 'birthday week' and in a few hours my husband and I will be heading off to Fiji for a little break! A rare trip away without the kids, we are looking forward to some much needed downtime. Before I leave I wanted to share the newly launched collection Objects of Copenhagen by Copenhagen-based design studio New Works. Presented at Northmodern and Maison & Objet, the collection comprises beautifully crafted objects, lighting and furniture, across a calming palette that combines dark tones with textural elements.

Creating objects that are not only highly functional but also alluring, New Works collaborate with a group of internationally renowned designers and artists who share the company's obsession with natural materials and striking form. These stunning images were created for their new collection catalogue The Room.

One of my favourite pieces is the Convent Chair by René Hougaard. Pairing traditional craftsmanship with a truly modern form, it is shown here alongside the the Florence Dining table and Florence Shelf by Knut Bendik Humlevik & Josefine Hedemann. Featuring clean lines, the glass surfaces of these pieces provide an unpolished, raw beauty and gallery-like feel.

Before I leave today, I'm hoping to schedule in at least one more post for when I'm away, but things will be a little quieter than usual this week. Please bear with me!
