Now in its 31st year, the iconic Dulux Colour Awards has had another record-breaker this year with 286 entries. Narrowing the field down to 88 finalists across Australia and New Zealand, the Awards once again recognise the two countries' diversely creative and outstanding use of colour across commercial and residential spaces. Dulux Colour Planning and Communication Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr, said the 2017 submissions were exciting, inventive and unexpected, in line with this year’s theme of ‘Bold, Forward, Tilted'.
Recognising inventive colour application in built environments, the 88 finalists were selected across nine categories. For today's post I've chosen four finalists to share with you from the Residential Interior categories. Embracing moodier palettes and deeper colour tones, which were cleverly off-set with elegant light greys, whites and soft pinks, Andrea says there was a strong modernist influence evident, and minimal colour schemes with metallic shades applied in subtle ways.
107 Cambridge – 2017 Dulux Colour Awards Finalist in the multi residential interior finalist
Located in the heritage precinct of Collingwood, this project's designers were given a brief to design 90 New York loft-style apartments, discerning of the area's origins. Blending industrial heritage with contemporary comfort and bespoke detailing, the stunning interior features a predominantly monochrome palette which adds to the sense of space and light. Contrasting with industrial black metalwork and glints of aged perforated brass, I also love the addition of timber and textural elements.
