Windows + Doors | Steel-Framed

$

For our home build we used black joinery, and couldn't be happier with the result. In fact, one of the features I love most is the large black framed windows in our upstairs space. It provides an amazing contrast with the white walls, and by adding black accents throughout, I achieved the monochrome look I love.

In older or renovated homes, every time I see the use of vintage-looking steel-framed doors and windows, it gets my heart racing. Sometimes referred to as casement windows, or French doors, they can be seen on the interior or exterior of some incredible homes I've come across. Here are some recent favourites.

These bedrooms are divine. As well being a statement feature, the doors provide a solution to space constraints and/or lack of light. Often seen in Scandinavian interiors, they are also perfectly suited to industrial style homes, as shown below.

I actually featured the home above way back here, but discovered these new images recently. A factory conversion in Amsterdam, the steel-framed doors and windows look amazing alongside the building's original brickwork.

The house above belongs to designer Marie von Lotzbeck and photographer Jacob Kirk and is located in Denmark. The steel framed doors, together with raw concrete floors and beautiful Scandinavian design pieces makes for a truly unique and inspiring home.

Autumn | Moodboard + New Things

The first of March marked the arrival of autumn here in NZ, but you would never have known it by the sunny and warm weather we had over the weekend. I was certainly not ready to say goodbye to summer, but come Monday things took a turn, and now that the temperature has dropped, I'm feeling okay about the cooler months ahead. That may change when winter comes knocking, but autumn certainly helps ease us in to it. Today I've curated an autumn moodboard. Muted, earthy tones together with natural materials and textural layers are all on my mind right now.

Images via my Pinterest

Like many, the colder weather starts to effect my skin and as such I pay closer attention to the products I use, especially moisturisers. One brand I absolutely love is Aesop which hails from Melbourne. Highly effective, I love that they use botanical and antioxidant ingredients, and the fragrances are divine! Not only that, they look beautiful in my bathroom and kitchen. You can buy Aesop products in NZ from the Simon James Concept Store

I find that my candle holders get a lot of use around home in Autumn. My collection is growing, and I've started lighting candles daily since the temperature has cooled. I love the cosy feel that lit candles create. LET LIV has a lovely range of candle holders and I've just treated myself to a few new ones. The Limestone & Glass Tealight Holder above is a favourite, as is the sweet little Marble Faceted Candlestick

Also from LET LIV, the Handmade Wire Bowls by Nkuku are gorgeous. I had actually been looking for some new fruit bowls, and as soon as I saw these, I knew they would look great on my marble bench top. As you can see they are available in two sizes, and are also perfectly suited to housing pretty bathroom products! I was also super excited to discover that another one of my sponsors, For Keeps, now stocks the Le Sac en Papier bags. All the way from Paris, those very cool bags are so handy, they can be used for storage and decoration in any room of the home.

Interior Styling | Kitchen Corners

I love seeing how people style their kitchen corners. So many different factors come in to play, such as bench space, layout, shelving or cabinetry, tiling, splash backs etc. But equally important is practicality. If you cook often, you may like to have quality oils and herbs at hand. If you love coffee, you'll want to have quick access to your daily fix. Or you may be a baking queen and like to have utensils at the ready.

While I like to keep my kitchen island as minimal as possible, with just fruit bowls, flowers and hand soap, I enjoy mixing things up a bit when it comes to the little corners on the back bench. One currently houses the coffee station, and the other has an ever-changing collection including boards, and a tray for placing grinders. Today I've picked out some gorgeous kitchen corners that I'm sure will inspire you.

As well as providing extra storage, open shelves allow you to display things that are too pretty to hide away, such as ceramics and framed pictures. The bench top can then be used for everyday items such as coffee, herbs, chopping boards and utensils.

Great for storing herbs or Nespresso capsules, I'm a big fan of washable paper bags that are so popular right now.

I don't think you can ever have too many chopping boards. I especially love the French style boards, that double as serving platters. Stylish trays are also handy for housing your oils and grinders, while a wall mounted magnetic knife is also a great idea.

For more kitchen corner inspiration, take a look at my Kitchen Pinterest board and for further ideas on kitchenware, take a look at this post I wrote last year.

Due to a big week (including a photo shoot at home and my son's birthday), I will be away from the blog tomorrow. Look out for me on Instagram, otherwise I'll see you back here on Friday. x

Interior Styling | Two-Toned Wood

I'm sorry for not posting on Friday as promised. Our home was photographed for one of my favourite NZ magazines on Thursday, which I'll let you know about in due course. It was a great day, but come Friday I was playing catch up, and organising my son's fourth birthday which was yesterday. All in all a great week, but rather exhausting!

Today's topic came about because I recently had to decide whether to choose oak or walnut legs on some chairs, to go with my kids new white desks. As you can tell from our home I love pale wood. Commonly used in Scandinavian design, and beautifully suited to a monochrome palette, it was my first choice for flooring, furniture and smaller accents for our new build, and I'm continually adding to this by way of candle holders and other decorative pieces. There is however a part of me that's drawn to darker wood. Walnut accents provide a striking contrast with white interiors, while dark wood floors always make me swoon.

But what about mixing different types of wood and colour varieties? I know that sometimes this is inevitable, say when you buy a home that has a certain type of timber flooring, and your furniture is a different colour. You may be wanting to white-wash your floors or go out and buy all new furniture, but that's not always possible! Today I want to show you that there are no rules, it's okay to mix things up, and in fact it can look amazing.

Even though I have a walnut console and light fitting in the downstairs living room where the kids desks are, I went with oak legs. Before I made the decision however, I did a bit of research. The first image of the kitchen caught my eye over the weekend. There's a real mix of wood going on, with lighter flooring, dark panelling on the kitchen island and even some plywood. The addition of dipped stools, completes the overall look.

Blonde and walnut woods are at either ends of the spectrum, but the images above show how it can be done. I especially like the pale floors and darker furniture. Combining wood colours that have even subtle differences can also work well, as demonstrated in the images below.

Metal Shelving | New Finds

$

I know what you're thinking... why is Michelle doing another post on shelving so soon? Well, it's because I've come across some cool new finds, and truth be told I'm a little obsessed with shelves. While the classic Scandinavian shelving systems that I wrote about here will always have my heart, there are clever new designs popping up regularly that are too good not to share. All made from steel, here are my latest design crushes.

The Antologia bookshelf by Italian company Studio 14 is a stainless steel, modular system that consists of one or more modules configured on the wall. They can also be placed in the corners as shown above, and overlapping. With endless compositions and a cool geometric aesthetic, I would love to have one of these to play with!

While it was the lacquered copper of this boltless shelving system that immediately caught my eye, its minimalist form and construction is what makes CLICK by Berlin-based design company New Tendency so unique. Cleverly designed by Sigurd Larsen, only four screws are required to fix it together, and the shelves are simply hung up without any tools. Easy to assemble, with a lovely visual lightness, it also comes in white powder coated steel.

Danish company Vipp is all about beautiful design and functionality, so it comes as no surprise that their minimal shelving system is a winner. Available in black or white powder coated aluminium, in both large and small, these gorgeous images demonstrate how they can be utilised in any room of the home.

Of course you can always count on Ikea to provide a cheaper option, and in this case, it's the Botkyrka shelves, introduced in February of this year. Made from steel, they have a simple design, making them both sleek and practical.

Available in grey, white and yellow, I love how the talented Joyce from My Dubio has styled the Ikea Botkyrka shelves in her kitchen. Painting the grey ones to match her wall, the black on black effect makes the shelves almost disappear and her gorgeous collection of kitchenware and accessories pop.

Cushions are a great accessory. Not only do they provide added comfort on your sofa or bed, they allow you to play with colour, patterns and texture. Even if you prefer to keep things safe with a neutral room palette, you can use cushions as a way of bringing in a bit of fun, without doing anything drastic. I'm always on the lookout for new designs, both locally and around the world, and today I thought I'd share some of my latest discoveries.

It's great to see that the trend for geometric patterns is still going strong. These colourful cushions are by Place de Bleu, a Danish company comprising of a team of talented women from around the world. All based in Copenhagen, they make everything by hand.

Ferm Living always delivers an exceptional range of cushions. The newest collection features their signature geometric pattern, in a range of gorgeous muted colours.

Of course I'll always be drawn to monochrome cushions. If you're adding in some colour, take direction from artworks and other accessories you have nearby.

Texture plays a big part when I'm on the hunt for cushions. I'm currently loving linens and now that Autumn has arrived, warm wools. These images scream cosy don't you think?

Images 1|2

To finish off, I've compiled some local finds I'm loving right now.

1. Fine Little Day Drops Cushion Cover from Perch Home
2. Jennifer + Smith Black Vs White Cushion from LET LIV
3. Peaks Printed Cushion Cover by Citta Design
4. Black Triangles Linen Cushion from MintSix
5. Kasi Knit Cushion by Country Road Home
6. Pony Rider Three Points Cushion from Mildred & Co
7. Helga Stripe Woven Cushion Cover by Citta Design

Looking through my latest pins, there have been a lot of interiors with an industrial feel to them, so that's the theme I've chosen for today's Pinterest post. Each home is quite different, showing that there are many different ways of interpreting industrial style.

I've always loved the look of white subway tiles, in both kitchens and bathrooms. They have a timeless quality, and as shown in the kitchen above, work well with other industrial elements, such as lighting, stools and concrete flooring. Personally, I like to add in small touches of industrial style by way of lighting and accessories. The magazine rack in the home's dining area is a perfect example. See more images here

This lovely home office has been doing the rounds on Pinterest. The industrial metal desk features a unique black and white tiled top. The chair, storage bucket and lamp add further industrial touches, and I love the String Pocket shelf and magazine hanger. See more over on Stadshem, where the home is currently for sale.

Featured in the February issue of Inside Out, this stunning weekend home belongs to interior designer and stylist Kali Cavanagh. Located in Daylesford, I love that the industrial features are softened by the beautiful neutral palette and feminine touches. The bedroom features lovely hanging lights and vintage shutters. Kali has cleverly transformed both a vintage desk and set of drawers into bathroom vanities. The work of talented duo Julia Green (styling) and Armelle Habib (photography), see more of this home over at Desire to Inspire

Scandinavian with a monochrome palette and an edgy, rock-n-roll vibe is how I'd describe my favourite industrial styling. Desiree of Vosges Paris nails this look perfectly. I've featured her home on the blog before, but I recently discovered some fresh pics via Pinterest. You can see the full house tour over on Decor8.

Homes to Inspire | White Flooring

$

You may remember the post I wrote called Wooden Flooring | Three Ways a while back. It included the wide and pale Dinesen flooring that I drew inspiration from for our new home, as well as beautiful herringbone flooring. The third style was that of older floorboards painted white, to give a slightly distressed, rustic look. Newer flooring (often made from engineered timber like our pale wood flooring upstairs) can look really pristine when white, and depending on the finish, can be either matt or glossy.

I'm sure you'll recognise the kind I'm talking about. Unmistakably Scandinavian, I can't get enough of this look right now. I hope my husband isn't reading this, but sometimes I dream about ripping up our downstairs carpet and replacing with this type of white flooring. Come winter, I'm sure I'll appreciate stepping out of bed onto our new grey carpet, but visually, this white flooring is where my heart lies! And after all, isn't that what rugs are for? For now I'll just keep dreaming... but maybe one day.

I've picked out three beautiful Scandinavian style homes to demonstrate.

The first home belongs to talented Norwegian interior blogger Elisabeth Heier. Her styling and photography is aways inspiring, and I never tire of seeing images of her beautiful home, in all its 'white floor' perfection.

Another Norwegian blogger, Tonje also takes amazing photographs of her home to share on her gorgeous blog Forever Love. How beautifully glossy are the floors?

I just discovered this delightful home today over on Stylizimo. Newly built with white flooring throughout, it provides the perfect canvas for the owner's enviable collection of Scandi furniture and homewares.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and if you're in NZ, stay safe in the stormy weather that's headed our way. x

I'm becoming more hooked on Instagram by the day. Not only do I get to indulge my love of styling and work on improving my photography, I find so much inspiration. If you haven't yet joined, I highly recommend you do!

Here are some of my Insta moments of late.

Today I want to share two Instagram feeds with you. A recent discovery, I don't know much about Anettes2 but the stunning images of her home and styling speak for themselves. You'll find a constant stream of dreamy white loveliness, layered with Scandi homewares, crinkled linen, rustic wood, and touches of black and green, all styled to perfection.

Not to mention this gorgeous wee fella...

One look at the beautiful feed Silverspies by Brisbane based photographer Juliette Steen, and I was captivated. Her ability to capture the beauty in simple, everyday moments has earned her a cool 100K plus following. Juliette also has a blog LUAR + WOLFFDENE, a minimalistic visual fusion of fashion, food and photography.

Not a bad way to start the week, is it? I'll be back tomorrow with the last instalment of the Love Your Walls series.

3M Command | Love Your Walls - Part Three

In the third and final part of the Love Your Walls Series, I'm going to show you how I used the 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips to re-style my youngest son's bedroom wall. If you missed seeing how I styled the other two walls in my home with these easy to use adhesive strips, take a look here and here

As you can see, Marlow's room started out with his name on the wall. It's very cute, however having just turned four, he decided he would like to follow in his big brother's footsteps, and drop down to just the first letter of his name. Of course I saw this as a great opportunity to do something different, and set about finding some gorgeous new prints to create a picture wall. Luckily I used 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips for the letters, so I knew that when I took them down, there would be no damage to the walls.

Once I had carefully removed all the letters and strips, I tried out some different configurations on the floor with the new prints. From there I decided on the best one, ensuring that it fit the space on the wall above the bookshelf. I started with a cute framed Pirate Captain Print, that I had custom-made to fit in with Marlow's orange-themed room, by Henry and Co

The letter M and full stop went back up, and then the gorgeous MiniWilla Rabman Poster that I had framed, from Australian online store Leo & Bella

Lastly, I put up Marlow's new framed Big Fox Print from Paper Plane Store. This took the place of three wooden flying birds, that I then stuck to the adjoining wall, once again using the adhesive strips.

Another fun and easy DIY project, thanks to 3M Command Strips, and Marlow is a very happy boy! I highly recommend these strips, not only for kids who want to update their room as they get older, but for all areas of the home. They are also the perfect solution for renters. For a full list of stockists, pop over here

It's always great to hear of international design brands making it our shores. Being a complete sucker for beautiful lighting, I was excited to discover some news in this area. You may have already heard of Huset, being that they are the leading supplier of Danish and European designed furniture in Melbourne. They also stock an amazing range of lights, one of which is the Bell Pendant Lamp, designed by the Danish duo Andreas Lund and Jacob Rudbeck for Normann Copenhagen.

The pendant light has an iconic bell shape, and is available in two sizes. I absolutely love the colour choices of grey and sand. I just can't get enough of these muted tones right now. An ideal light source in various interior spaces, the Bell Lamps look amazing hung over the dining table either solo or in a pair. They are also beautifully suited to kitchens, where you could hang a few, or as way of illuminating a large hall or office space.

This is just one of a range of sought after international designer lighting brands on offer at Huset. To see the full range, including more pendant lighting, floor lamps and desk lights, take a look here

Next up, I'm very pleased to announce that Plumen is now available in NZ. The UK brand has developed a range of designer energy efficient light bulbs and accessories, including the Plumen 001, which has won a range of awards for its design. Lasting eight times longer than your standard incandescent lamp, it has a really unique and interesting look, which you may recognise from the images below.

Designed by Samuel Wilkinson for HULGER, you can find out more about these lights and where to buy them here

This leads me to my next introduction, Mister Mister, a new NZ-based online store specialising in luxury home decor. With a focus on exceptional design, they have a growing collection of homeware, curated from world renowned, up and coming, local and international designers, many of which are new to NZ. This includes a stunning range of lighting, including the Plumen range.

Homes to Inspire | Swedish Character

I've probably talked before about how we ended up building a home so I'll keep it short, but it was actually my husband's idea. I grew up in an older, character home and although it was always in a state of renovation, I liked the idea of buying a do-up and turning it into my dream home, while still retaining the original features. Dean on the other hand wanted a new home. Warm and dry, low-maintenance and designed for the how we like to live, over time this idea started to rub off on me. Once I jumped on board, there was no looking back and I couldn't be happier. Now we fantasise about winning Lotto and building a holiday home. Just last night I was telling Dean about my dreams to build a minimalist Nordic barn-inspired home by the sea! Aren't dreams fun?

I do still love older homes, and if I was in the market to buy one, this listing on Swedish Real Estate site Alvhem Mäkleri would definitely be on the must-see open home list! Freshly painted with new finishes it has a fun, quirky Scandi style that Alvhem is renowned for. I can also imagine that most of our furniture and homewares would fit right in!

I love the pale wooden flooring and hallway shelves. Subway tiles, a concrete bench top and metallic details like the gold mixer and hanger hooks give the kitchen an industrial edge.

The relaxed industrial vibe continues in the bedroom, with another cool DIY leather hanger, vintage chair and clamp light. There are more gold touches in the office, as well as a clever felt bookshelf and one of my favourite chairs, the Hay About A Chair AAC22.

Well here we are, at the end of another week. This year is flying by and I've had a couple of particularly busy months. Now that the dust is starting to settle, I'm looking forward to focusing on two new blog-related projects that I can't wait to share with you. One is an exciting collaboration, and the other is a re-design of my blog. Today however, I'm just happy it's Friday, and I'm thinking ahead to the weekend and having a bit of down time.

With that in mind, I thought some moodboard inspiration was in order.

Interior Styling | Black, White + Wood

For me, black white and wood is an irresistible combination when it comes to interiors, so I had no trouble finding plenty of images to inspire you today. In fact it was hard to narrow down the selection. All Scandinavian in style, I've chosen beautiful monochrome spaces, that although restrained, are warm and inviting. This is largely due to the addition of timber, by way of flooring, furniture or homewares.

Drawing inspiration from the interiors above, I've picked out some gorgeous black, white and wood pieces including furniture, art, lighting and accessories.

2. Industry Ceiling Pendant from Freedom Furniture NZ
3. Shine Bright Print from May and Belle
4. Replica Eames DAW Armchair from Zuca
5. Normann Copenhagen Agnes Vase Collection from Bodie & Fou

The temperature has dropped here in Auckland today and as such, I thought it would be nice to find some warm and cosy interior inspiration. It didn't take me long, thanks to this new project located in Stockholm, that I found on Hitta Hem. The work of Pella Hedeby and her co-stylist Marie Ramse, the home to me has a lovely Autumn feel. True to Pella's signature style, there's an effortlessly cool, relaxed vibe that makes me want to snuggle up on the leather sofa with a cosy throw, a good book or magazine and a hot drink.

Hardwood floors and white painted walls provide the ideal base for a neutral palette of grey tones, tan leather and chocolate brown accents. In particular, I love the soft textures and lighting. In fact in every room there is either a stylish pendant light, floor lamp, desk lamp, or wall lamp that immediately catches my eye.

The bedrooms are so inviting. The first one is simple yet striking with its black headboard, round mirror and wall lamp. Lovely textural layers in the second bedroom below include sheer grey curtains and a cross throw. A couple of magazine stacks thrown in, and I'm completely sold!

Dining Rooms | Hooked Pendant Lighting

One of my favourite features in our living area is the hooked lighting, which I wrote about here. Ceiling hooks provide a simple yet visually appealing solution when you need to reposition hanging pendants to provide lighting over the dining table. Much easier and cheaper than calling in the electrician!

While I love the minimalist look of simple bulbs, such as the Muuto E27 Pendants Lamps, you can hook up any pendant light that takes your fancy. Industrial style lights like the one above, contemporary chandeliers like the one below, a pair of lights... the list goes on.

Perfectly suited to high ceilings, the length of the cord allows you to position the lights at whichever height you like. The ceiling beams below provide an ideal place for winding the cord. I also really love these caged work lamps right now.

When it comes to hooks, I highly recommend the 3M Command range for damage free hanging. I used them in our living area, with 3M transparent adhesive. Just make sure you check the weight of your pendant first. Scroll through my Pinterest Dining board for many more gorgeous examples of hooked pendant lights.

I've been admiring the work of Copenhagen-based designer Kristina Dam for some time. A trained graphic designer who studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, it is easy to see how these two disciplines have shaped Kristina's design aesthetic. Inspired by the graphic world of layouts and typography and driven by a love of architecture, she set up the Kristina Dam Studio in 2011 and has since launched an interiors brand. The incredible range includes tables, sculptures, illustrations, wall structures and bedcovers.

Bold and graphic, there are so many pieces here that I'm coveting, in particular the Diamond Sculpture and Candlesticks. I also love the strong, clean lines of the Architectural Illustrations

I've hit a bit of a wall this week. Not so much exhaustion or burnout (which I experience from time to time) but more a feeling of being overwhelmed with everything. The blog is coming up to its second birthday, and while I cannot be happier with the rate at which it has grown (largely thanks to all of you for being here), the growth has meant a much bigger workload. Now don't get me wrong - I do thrive on this, but I'm sure as many bloggers will agree, it's a lot to manage for one person. Of course bigger blogs have contributors and content managers etc, but some of us are not yet at that level!

First and foremost I want to focus on the blog and move forward with the enthusiasm and passion that drove me to start in the first place. In order to do this, I've decided to limit the number of styling jobs I take on. I'm loving the PR work that I'm doing and will continue to post everyday here on the blog, give or take the odd day when the wheels fall of completely! I also mentioned last week that I have a couple of exciting projects coming up. One is the blog redesign, but I also want to look at my blog content and create a bit more structure. This includes my blog layouts, starting with my moodboards which I decided could really do with a re-fresh!

Today I've taken inspiration from the Zara Spring/Summer Campaign, which I've been lusting over lately. While the bare midriffs are looking a bit chilly as we move towards winter here in NZ, I love seeing what's in store for us next year, and many of the clothes are trans-seasonal. Overall, there's a gorgeous minimalist vibe that really appeals. I've picked out some of my favourite looks including everyday basics in neutral palettes, and mixed them up with some beautiful images from my Pinterest boards

Take a look at the beautiful big world of Zara here

I've decided to make Musings + Moodboards a regular occasional post. So far they've been sporadic, but you will be seeing more from now on. I'd love to hear what you think, so do leave a comment and let me know.

Have a fun, inspiring and restful weekend. x

Monday Mix Up

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I've got some great finds to share with you this week, so many in fact that today called for a Monday Mix Up post.

First up is the French Marble Company Retegui who produce a range of exquisite marble furniture, shelving and tableware. Using 3D technology, the company's team of master craftsmen have developed techniques that combine marble with composite materials, enabling the stone to be considerably light, yet very strong. I'm in love with the tables and shelves that combine marble with pale oak.

Furniture and homeware store Indie Home Collective has recently welcomed the range of Wonki Ware ceramics from South Africa. Founded by Di Marshall, the gorgeous pottery is created through a process that allows it to dry in its raw state before being finally formed and glazed by hand. I had the pleasure of seeing the collection in store recently, and the ceramics are even more beautiful in real life. Every piece is unique with a lovely tactile quality that makes you want to touch them.

If you're anything like me, the arrival of Autumn makes me you crave beautiful aromas to warm the body and soul. Scent of Home is a range of fragrant candles from Melbourne.  Made from pure soy wax together with coconut and almond oil, the candles have been developed with the finest ingredients, to ensure each candle fragrance is beautiful down to the very last minute. All handmade from the signature curved glass to the pour of the wax, some of the delectable fragrances on offer at Indie Home Collective include Antique Gardenia, Cade Wood & Lavender, Danish Vanilla Bean, Botanical Anise, and Black Lily Flower.

Being that I'm a big fan of the Kubus range of Candleholders from Danish brand By Lassen, I was excited to discover that the iconic collection, designed in 1962 by architect Mogens Lassen, is now being introduced in copper. They have also introduced a new table to their collection, known as Twin. Featuring the signature cube shape of the Kubus range, the table has a unique flexibility thanks to a two-sided top. Used as a side table, bedside table, or grouped together to create a coffee table, the ability to change the top from black to copper and white to oak is genius!

This renovated Oslo loft by London Studio Haptic caught my eye over the weekend, and you can see why. It features a unique staircase that connects living spaces on the lower floor with a mezzanine above, while creating a divide between the kitchen and lounge. I love the dark grey kitchen, pale wood accents and Scandinavian style. Find out more here.

Lastly, I want to share with you some fun new arrivals at Superette. First up the Treehorn Boards which are made from reclaimed, recycled or sustainably grown timber. Featuring a non-toxic paint-dipped end, I would happily choose from black, grey or white! For those who love colour, it also comes in bright green and yellow. New to the Superette Home collection is a set of gorgeous hand screen printed linen cushions, with a luxurious velvet backing. I've got my eye on the Peach Triangle and Spots

Launched in December 2013, and now available from Superette, Ziporah is the perfect way to inject a little colour into the home for winter with their designer luxury bath sheets and hand towels. The brainchild of three Melbourne friends, the beautiful  Ziporah towels are designed in Australia and made with with the highest quality and luxury materials from Portugal.

A pretty fab line up for Monday don't you think? Have a great day. x

Pitched Roofing + Wooden Beams

One of my favourite features of our home is the pitched roofing upstairs, which gives the open plan living area an amazing sense of light and space. I've come across a couple of fantastic examples lately that I want to share with you, along with some images I've picked out from my Pinterest boards

White and bright, with Scandi-style open plan living, kitchen and dining areas, the pitched roofing helps create a beautifully light and airy feel.

A complimentary feature, I love the warmth that natural timber beams bring to these rooms. You'll also notice some have skylights, which help maximise natural daylight. This would be especially helpful in Scandinavia, where the winters are long and dark.
