Fantastic Frank | Bedside Styling

If there's one area of home I like to keep as pared back as possible, it's the bedroom. I love climbing into bed at night surrounded by a simple, uncluttered space. I have just a few necessities on the bedside such as a book or magazine and hand cream. On the wall I currently alternate between one of my Penney + Bennett prints, a simple magazine tear sheet or fave black and white photo. I like the bedsides to be asymmetrical, with the one exception being our Tolomeo wall lamps on both sides, which I love.

The bedrooms that I've selected here are all from Swedish real estate site Fantastic Frank. There is always so much interior inspiration on there and for today I have selected some great examples for the bedside.

Styling by Josefin Hååg and photography by Mikael Axelsson via Fantastic Frank

The stylists that Fantastic Frank collaborate with are incredibly talented in creating homes that are relaxed and livable in a very unique, organic way. We all have our personal interior wishlists of beautiful pieces that we want for our homes, but as these images show, if you utilise what you have to create beautiful, simple compositions the results can be stunning.

The bedroom above has such a peaceful vibe created by the pared back styling and a soft, neutral palette.

Monochrome styling with an industrial edge, I love the quirky picture wall and marble shelf below the window.

A simple moodboard created from magazine tear sheets, I like the blue denim theme.

A great way to keep your favourite artworks on rotation, I often wish I had a bit more space on our beside to lean framed posters against the wall.

A beautifully styled vintage desk makes a great side table, while the the grey wall and brass accents make this bedroom bedside a standout.

I recently featured this incredible home by Robert Mills Architects, and at the time made a note to return with one of his other masterpieces, Ocean House. Currently wet and gloomy outside, this extraordinary home, located just a short stroll from North Lorne's secluded beach on Melbourne's stunning west coast is the perfect distraction. Featuring a mix of raw concrete and polished timber, Ocean House is a study in harmony, blending seamlessly with the forest to create a calming retreat. The elegant yet relaxed interior features stylishly comfortable furniture from some of Rob Mills' favourite designers including Pierre Lissoni and Patricia Urquiola. A truly unique holiday house that redefines the concept of a beachside retreat, there is also the addition of the Ocean Apartment, both of which are available to rent via the Ocean House Website

I'm fighting off the Monday blues while juggling work, and having my youngest at home sick today. If you're feeling under the weather like us or have a case of Mondayitis, these beautiful bright homes and interior finds should help brighten your day.

Revisiting the Sydney-based C+M Studio who I featured here, I'm loving their newest project CABARITA. Located in a beautiful coastal location, the townhouse refurbishment features a simple layered palette of natural materials, as carried through from the fittings and finishes to the soft furnishings and furniture, all selected and curated by C+M Studio. You can find details of these products over here.

The Labo Pendant Lamp by Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri, designers and founders of Something, is the latest in a series of lamps made from borosilicate glass for Italian manufacturer Penta. A natural progression from their first Labo lamp collection, inspired by instruments from chemistry laboratories, they have taken that idea and suspended it from the ceiling. The beautiful pendant lamp is made up of three domes,  arranged along a central tubular body carrying the cables that connect the lamp to the ceiling. Labo comes in either transparent or smoked glass, and the metal parts are available in different finishes.

British Design icons HemingwayDesign and Royal Doulton have teamed up to to create a a range of striking, mid-century design inspired ceramics. I really love the fresh feel and pretty colour palette of these pieces which include serving bowls, vases, storage jars and jugs. Pop over here to find out more about the collection, which is due for lunch in June.

Another bright and cheerful home to finish off, House in Double Bay is located on a leafy street in eastern Sydney's Double Bay. The latest project by award winning architectural firm TRIBE, the interior is soft, warm and inviting. A standout feature is the sun drenched double height void, that frames a lush green back garden.

Hunting For George | Moody Blues

I was really excited to receive an email from Hunting for George this week, with news of their Winter collection, Moody Blues. Having caught my attention a while back via Instagram, the Australian homeware brand has a fun, fresh vibe that I know will appeal to many of you. Launched in 2010 by sister duo Lucy Glade-Wright and Jo Harris, their initial offering of just three brands soon grew, and before they knew it they were moving into creating their own range of products. With the success of their first line, a range of print designs, they then began to expand their collection to include handmade clocks, pure cotton bed linen, textile accessories and most recently Australian Made furniture

Moody Blues is the third textile collection from Hunting for George and welcomes a distinctive masculine tone, with darker colours and simplified graphics. Styled alongside their recently launched Oliver Furniture Collection, inside a warehouse setting with painted brick walls and huge feature windows, the vibe is cool, relaxed and inviting.

“We always design for a unisex audience however this season does have a more masculine overtone. Our focus was pulled towards creating an emotive, nostalgic collection that was confident in its simplicity and character. “ Lucy Glade-Wright

The Moody Blues collection also introduces a luxurious new range of textures to accompany the popular Hunting for George pure cotton sateen bed linen. Perfect for winter layering these include 100% Australian Merino Wool blankets, buffalo leather cushion covers and hand poured concrete clocks.

"These designs are all about luxury and we hope they will be cherished for many years to come.” Jo Harris

Do you remember the Monochrome Home book that I included in this recent wishlist?  It arrived the other day and while I have been too busy to read it cover to cover, just flicking through it has had me lingering upon several incredible homes in awe. Page after page of stunning interior inspiration thanks to its author, sought after stylist Hilary Robertson and photography by the renowned Pia Ulin, it's a must have coffee table book for all you fellow lovers of monochrome spaces.

Another exciting arrival that day was my new CULTIVER bedlinen. So obsessed with linen, I had been wanting another linen duvet cover for some time and couldn't be happier with my new Blush set. Part of the new colour range that I featured here, it's even prettier in real life and looks right a home with my CULTIVER Linen Sheets in Natural. You will no doubt recognise the incredible Penney + Bennett Black Thatch Silk Throw that I used in this bedroom shoot last year. A local brand that I love collaborating with, they very kindly sent it to me as a gift and I am in love.

The gorgeous candle on my bedside is one of the new Deluxe Range of candles from George & Edi, a boutique home fragrance brand based in the beautiful resort town of Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. If you follow me on Instagram you would've noticed them popping up in my feed, including the shot below when they first arrived on my doorstep, beautifully packaged and causing my heart to skip a beat! Celebrating a love of craftsmanship and understated luxury, the new range includes two new fragrances. 22:00 'we surrender to sleep' has been designed for after dark, hence its position by my bed. With lavender to relax, jasmine to soothe away anxiety and hints of leather and amber, not only will it help you get the perfect night's sleep, it smells absolutely divine.

Styling and photography by Michelle Halford for TDC

Black Coriander is a lovely blend of green coriander, black peeper, patchouli and cedar wood. A unisex fragrance that isn't too sweet, it's already become a favourite. Making these candles even more special are their unique handcraftted brushed steel vessels. Produced in collaboration with sculptor Ernie Maluschnig and his team at Metalworks Wanaka, they have an amazing textural look and feel. You really have to see and feel them to appreciate their uniqueness and cool industrial vibe.

To celebrate the lunch of the Deluxe Range, George & Edi have produced 50 Limited Edition Mini Deluxe Candles which make the perfect little collector's item to treasure and cherish. Visit George & Edi to shop the new range online, and while you're there make sure you check out their full range home fragrance products.

It is always a huge pleasure bringing you updates from our dear friends at Norsu Interiors, and today is no exception. Talented owners Kristy Sadlier and Nat Wheeler who I have so much admiration for work incredibly hard at sourcing new brands and securing exclusive products for both their online and retail store in Melbourne. I know you will be as excited as I am about their newest Scandinavian additions which include handcrafted leather and wooden good from By Wirth, the beautiful Plant Series prints from by Garmi, the Kreativitum Underground Posters (remember this Stockholm poster?), sought after Danish brand Menu (oh yes!) and beautiful watercolour artworks by Magdalena Tyboni

They also have some incredible new local designers such as Barnaby Lane, CULTIVER Bed Linen, beautiful Bed Heads by Heatherly Design, Ivy Muse Plant Stands, Marble Basics and SIT-KA. And they are about to re-launch the Norsu House Bed due to popular demand.

To showcase their latest products Norsu have produced some incredible new imagery, which they describe as "a nice evolution from our previous photo shoot, with a little more sophistication, and the introduction of a hint of colour to the walls for some impact." As you will see, the pictures speak for themselves! So inspiring, each of these rooms have been designed with achievability in mind, to help you replicate the 'look' in your own home.

With so much on offer, it's little wonder that Norsu have well and truly outgrown their gorgeous little store in Melbourne. The good news is they are expanding into a larger space by occupying the shop next door in a couple of weeks time! Furthermore, they have introduced an in-home styling arm to the business by employing a full time stylist Liz WolffWhile still new, this service is already proving very popular, especially with their in-store customers.

Now stocking more art prints than ever, Norsu says their selection has grown a life of its own since the Vee Speers launch that I featured here. How utterly divine is their latest addition to this incredible collection, Untitled #11 from the Thirteen series, seen in the beautiful bedroom below?

Lastly, I am delighted to announce that Norsu has begun collaborating with another incredible artist Ruben Ireland, to exclusively produce and release his works in Australia. The acclaimed London-based graphic artist and illustrator has become very well known through the online community, with his striking black and white works often appearing in beautiful interior spaces and Scandinavian homes. They have what I would describe as an almost otherworldly quality often featuring women who appear stoic, yet intriguingly beautiful. Kicking off with three of my favourite works, Marianna, The Mound II and Hold On, Norsu will gradually add to the collection over time as they have done with the Vee Speers collection.

Styling by Julia Green and Jacqui Moore from Greenhouse Interiors, andphotography by Lisa Cohen

If you've been looking for a statement artwork (that won't break the bank) these prints will certainly deliver. The hardest part will be stopping at just one! To get you started, Norsu are very kindly offering TDC readers from Australia and New Zealand an exclusive 25% discount on all Ruben Ireland prints for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

DIY | Multifunctional Bedroom Wall

I came across this bedroom 'box wall' DIY via Dutch magazine vtwonen and thought it was too clever not to share. Designed as a a place to playfully display your favourite things, you can see a video of how the wall was built here. Even though I can't understand Dutch, it was interesting to watch it all come together, and I have to say it looked pretty easy!

Of course a coat of white paint and some beautiful finishing touches really bring the wall to life. I love the mix of prints, including the Urban Botanic postcard set from My Deer and addition of little shelves to place smaller objects on. The wall also provides a place to attach bedside pendants, using simple wall brackets attached to the top of the wall on either side. The soft teal colour and layers of bedding create a fresh yet cosy feel.

The multifunctional wall is not only a beautiful bedhead, it acts as a partition. Ideal for small spaces, a simple console/desk placed against the other side of the wall creates a perfectly usable workspace, more storage and a place to display favourite objects and artworks.

McLaren.Excell | The Perfect Canvas

I've spent a fair chunk of the morning looking through the inspiring portfolio of McLaren.Excell, an architecture and bespoke interiors company based in Chelsea, Central London. The design-led practice is co-directed by Luke McLaren and Robert Excell, who work primarily on private residential and commercial projects. Established in 2010, the practice has taken on a diverse range of work in a short time, steadily building a reputation for producing buildings which have a calm authority and finely nuanced sense of place. Driven by a genuine passion for good design, this is reflected in the projects delivered, which are beautifully conceived and finely crafted.

Case in point, Ingersoll Road is one of their residential projects that demonstrates this beautifully. With concrete being the dominant material, the addition of wood gives contrast, warmth and richness, while the exposed bricks add to the stunning textural effect. Look at the incredible herringbone wooden panels in the kitchen below, and subtle mimicking of this pattern on the white tiled splashback. Such incredible attention to detail, which can be seen throughout the entire home. The perfect canvas to move in and make your own, wouldn't you agree?

A palette of Scandinavian white-washed Douglas Fir boards and light walls keep it simple and light. I particularly love they way the boards run up the wall as panelling.

Exposed copper pipes and a touch of marble in the bathroom. That's it. I'm moving in.

Kids Rooms | A Few New Things

Regardless of the room I'm styling I always have fun in the process. It helps that I love all of the products I work with. I wouldn't have it any other way. But there's so much more to it than just arranging things in a pretty flatlay and taking a quick snap. A lot of effort goes in to the overall composition, and in particular the kids rooms are a real joy to work in. I love telling the boys their new products have arrived in the post, and seeing their faces light up when they get home from school to see how I've transformed their rooms. Whenever a brand approaches me about collaborating together, I show the kids the range of products and let them choose their favourite designs. Recently we had the pleasure of doing so with a couple of fantastic children's companies.

The first is by Sofie Jensen, a Copenhagen-based studio specialising in graphic-art and illustration. Established in 2012 by architect and design couple Sofie Elkjær Jensen and Søren Nersting, the studio produces original work that has gained a reputation for its quality and playful nature. Driven by a wish to make their surroundings more beautiful, the couple create graphic art based in architecture, with Sofie responsible for the graphic work and Søren providing conceptual input as well as managing the web and commercial aspects of the business. From graphic architectural illustrations to quirky hand drawings and charming graphic for kids, my boys were as excited as I was when I showed them the collections!

Marlow chose the gorgeous A Mouse in a House poster from the new by Sofie Jensen Kids range. As you can see, it fits in perfectly on this side of his room. The new Toys paper storage bag is from the wonderful Stockholm-based store Tellkiddo. They also sent me some cute postcards which you can see popping up in the kids rooms here and there.

Roman chose A Fox in a Box, which I plan to hang it on a wall in his room. The spot is a little tricky to photograph, so for the purpose of this post it's leaned up against the wall in good view.

Roman also fell in love with the by Sofie Jensen Little House Series. As a budding little artist who is constantly 'doodling', it is easy to see why these playful illustrations really appealed to him. He chose the delightful prints Little House in Trouble and Little House in Tears, now sitting side by side on his bedroom shelf.

Roman's not the only one who has taken a shine to this series! I love them so much, I couldn't resist styling my favourite, Little House Ballooning in my office. Not just for kids, they make a fun and quirky statement in adult spaces too. I highly recommend checking out the stunning Graphitecture series as well.

Styling and photography by Michelle Halford for TDC

The gorgeous storage bags that feature in most of the photos are from Paris based children's brand Mon Petite Zoréol. They come in two sizes, in a range of monochrome designs. We love our Mini Croix and Mini Gribouillage. They also make the most gorgeous wooden garlands, one of which hangs above Marlow's desk. Today I noticed they have started to introduce some very cute kids clothes to their collection, so I may have to pop back for another look!

Silke Bonde x The Poster Club

Yesterday I received news of an exciting collaboration between Danish graphic designer and artist Silke Bonde and Copenhagen-based webshop THE POSTER CLUB. Silke, who is well known for her collection 'Blue Water' that I featured here, has created two stunning new art prints Leaf Me and Cove, exclusively for THE POSTER CLUB.  Once again working her magic with water colour, and finding inspiration in the Nordic nature Silke says this about her new prints:

"With this small collection I wanted to invite the nature inside. Both art prints are inspired by the beautiful ‘skeleton’ you will find in a leaf, always varying from one another and forming its own natural expression and thereby creating small and unique pieces of art... 'Leaf me’ is showing the beauty of the natural lines and patterns you will find in a leaf while ‘Cove’ represents the importance of the water and it’s ability to create life."

Styling by Sofie Brünner and photography by Enok Holsegård

For me, these works combine so many elements that I love.... clean lines, delicate textural detail and a lovely organic feel. The beautiful styling against a white backdrop layered with natural materials further enhances their aesthetic appeal, and I am already thinking about where and how I would style them in my own home. I'm sure many of you are doing the same!

Each print is produced as a limited edition of 300 and can be purchased exclusively via THE POSTER CLUB with worldwide shipping.

Homes to Inspire | Clean Contrasts

When I stumbled across an image of the kitchen below while browsing the web, it stopped me in my tracks. The clean, contemporary style showcases incredible architectural detailing and beautiful finishes. Itching to see more, I tracked down the firm responsible, Rob Kennon Architects (RKA), who are based in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Thankfully I also found more imagery of the stunning project, Burnley House to share with you!

Forming part of an open-plan living and dining area, the kitchen flows beautifully to an outdoor dining space. I love the use of marble and black tapware, and the warm richness of the wood. Predominantly monochrome, the mix of grey and black finishes give this home a unique edge and textural depth, while the blue carpet provides an amazing contrast.

Beautiful furniture and striking artworks provide the perfect finishing touches.

Monday Mix Up

Sitting down at my desk last night to do some planning I knew a Monday Mix Up post was in order for today. After all, what better way to ease into the working week than by looking at some beautiful interior inspo?

Understated with a mix of old and new, this is the head office of Productz, designed by Brisbane-based interior designers and furniture store AP Design House. Photographed by Toby Scott, it is one of several AP Design House projects he has captured beautifully behind the lens. Launching a new website soon, I'm looking forward to seeing more of their work.

Photography by Toby Scott

Featuring the latest flooring collection from Swedish design company Bolon, I saw first saw these images via the portfolio of Heidi Lerkenfedlt, whose work greatly admire. I have since discovered that the collection, aptly called Flow, highlights design fluidity, visual motion and soft pastel shades by the use of a transparent warp that allows the weave's subtle colours to shine through. The overall impression, reminiscent of a tranquil, watercolour vista is stunning.

I couldn't resist including a peek of Heidi's latest editorial work in today's mix. These spaces are amazing.

You can tell a lot about someone by their beside, which is why I love the 'My Bedside Table' feature in Kinfolk. The first one below is from Issue Fifteen, with beautiful styling inspired by Hans Ulrich Obrist, a renowned critic, art historian and curator at the Serpentine Galleries in London. One of his rituals which I love the idea of, is to visit a bookstore and buy a book every day. One of my resolutions for 2015 was to buy more books, however I think one a month would be a slightly more realistic goal for me!

Photograph by Anders Schønnemann and Styling by Nathalie Schwer via Kinfolk

This bedside is from the current Issue Sixteen which I have yet to get my hands on. Kinfolk's take on the bedside of Starr Hout, cofounder of New York-based Fashion Brand Apiece Apart reflects her preference for creating a sanctuary. I'm particularly impressed by the fact that she keeps her phone away from her room at night. I wish I could say the same!

Scandinavian brand Oliver Furniture produces the most beautiful pieces for both kids and adults. Designed by SørenRørbæk, these Glass Cabinets have a timeless quality to them. I highly recommend checking out the full collection, including the kids furniture. You won't be disappointed!

I've added two new places to my must-see list for when I visit the Netherlands thanks to Sonja Velda Photography. Discovered recently via Pinterest, the interior and lifestyle photographer has captured both of these unique spaces beautifully. The first is Portrait, a concept store in Haarlem. Founded by three creatives, Karen, Daisy and Rogier it is a place where you can work, brainstorm, shop and drink good coffee. The shop offers a combination of fashion, home accessories and beauty products, with a focus on Scandinavian brands. Described as a breeding ground where local entrepreneurship and fashion come together, it caters specifically to self-employed, providing a place to work and network. Sounds perfect to me!

The building, which was once a stable and can be hired outside of opening hours for other creative initiatives, has largely been left in its original state. I love the concrete, exposed bricks and stained glass windows. A mix of new and vintage furniture further adds to its character and rustic charm.

COTTONCAKE is both a fashion store and cafe, located in Amsterdam. It also acts as a platform for local artists, holding regular exhibitionsWhite, bright and inviting, I would love to visit for a spot of shopping, followed by lunch and organic coffee. Once again there's a beautiful mix of old and new, with white-painted bricks and vintage pieces.

I love going through my Instagram feed each month and selecting photos to share with you. Even though many of you will have seen them already, I love curating a little summary for the blog. That way I can also give you the links to the brands I've been working with and the products I'm currently loving. You'll find everything you need to know at the end of the post.

Styling and Photography by Michelle Halford via @thedesignchaser

There are always several office shots as I spend a fair bit of time at my desk, but I also created a little desk area with the downstairs console unit. Here you can see some gorgeous new products that I received as a gift from Neutral Instinct, following their recent first birthday/blog giveaway collaboration. I was particularly excited about the white by Lassen Kubus Bowl, which has been on my wishlist for ages. I've also been eyeing up a watch by The Horse from Paper Plane since last year, so I was very happy to be given the opportunity to choose one. I'm going to be doing some more work with Paper Plane so keep an eye out for some gorgeous new product styling on my feed. Kitchen Kulture which you can see above is one of their beautiful new books featuring incredible kitchens from around the world, many of which have a Scandinavian style. For those with a passion for interiors, in particular the 'hub of the home', this book is a must.

The perfect pick-me-up thanks to Nespresso, I have enjoyed taste testing the new Limited Edition Grand Cru Peru Secreto, which was accompanied by sparkly gold macarons and the new Touch Collection cups. Created in collaboration with Berlin design Studio Geckeler Michels, I love the black ceramic and soft silicone combo. The ergonomic shape not only looks beautiful, it enhances coffee aroma.

I am thrilled to have added Copenhagen Elevations to my stunning collection of Studio Esinam Architectural prints, and I am loving the way my luxurious new Bloomingville Grey Goatskin looks with my new bedlinen. A gift from Tessuti, they also sent me some beautiful linen tea towels by Studiopatró, which I have been getting a few questions about. Designed and handcrafted in San Francisco, they feature simple geometric designs in the perfect neutral palette. I styled the Everyday Linen Bistro Towel (that cleverly doubles as an apron) with my new bowls from the Father Rabbit Ceramics collection, which I recently featured here. The two bowls in Rain Grey and Leaf Green make the perfect pairing with my favourite breakfast (or anytime of the day) combo, GLOBircher and COCOmilk from Greenleaf Organics. Yum!

Available for the first time in New Zealand, iconic Swedish brand Skultuna has arrived at Simon James Concept Store. An exciting and fitting addition to their beautiful range of homewares, Skultuna are absolute masters in fine metal work, specialising in brass objects of the highest quality for both everyday use and for special occasions. Founded in 1607, spanning a remarkable 400 year history, the company was actually opened by King Karl IX, hence the crown logo that is still in place today.

Very much Scandinavian in style, the beautifully crafted pieces have carried through the years with the same sense of quality, function and design, making them truly timeless.

I love incorporating metal elements into my styling, and brass is high on my radar right now, even more so after seeing how amazing it looks here against the grey and marble background. I particularly love the Flower Potsthe Candlesticks designed by Richard Hutten, and the beautiful deco-inspired Land's End Trivet. The brass and leather Karui Trays designed by GamFratesi are also stunning.

See all of the Skultuna collection at Simon James Concept Store, where you can shop online or at their Herne Bay Store.

Feist Forest

Feist Forest is a new UK-based furniture brand that centres around wooden work tables, handcrafted for independent minds and makers. Prior to launching, founder Vicki Turner, who has a degree in Product and Furniture design, spent years exploring the world working in various creative fields. During her travels it was the humble table that gathered many curious people together. Stories and ideas revealed across it, things made and sculpted upon it. On her return home to Devon 14 years later, she wished to collaborate with like-minded folk to build simple, considered and life-long products to support the very people that make life so interesting. After a year working as an illustrator by day and furniture designer by night, with the help of Ben Algar, a highly talented furniture maker and a wood carver, Feist Forest was born.

Their first table design, The Ashling, is absolutely stunning. Made from home-grown British Ash, a beautiful grained hardwood, the attention to detail and finishes are exquisite. The two colours, which work in perfect unison, were actually selected to reflect the wooden Ash stem and black buds seen in winter. Each of the tables are supplied with an information label, which names the woodland and the exact location of where your wood comes from.

Your Feist Forest table will be a trusty steed. Ignoring passing trends, our tables are designed and built to last, focusing on the simplicity of design and the quality of craftsmanship and construction.

Highly recommended for his talent, skills and passion for wood, Ben has been honing his craft for the last 10 years, in industrial projects, in the workshop or studying the art of wood carving in Finland. Ben handcrafts Feist Forest tables in small batches at his workshop near Cublington, Bedfordshire. Each table is made with a high level of care and precision.

Together, albeit in different locations, Vicki and Ben make wooden work tables to bring independent minds, skills and positive ideas together. A wooden table with creativity and nature at its core. Not factory-made but handcrafted, one at a time, in the UK. A table for the vagabonds, dreamers and makers who courageously make great ideas happen.

How gorgeous is the styling location and Vicki's illustrations on the wall? Lovingly referred to as the Tin Tabernacle, the home of Feist Forest is currently undergoing renovations to bring it back to its former glory. The studio doors will open later in the year for those who wish to book a visit.

Find out more about the Ashling Tables including information regarding the company's sustainable practices here. Currently shipping within the UK, email hello@feistforest.com if you live outside of this area and are interested in ordering one of the tables. For detailed delivery information, take a look here. I hope those of you who are celebrating the Queen's Birthday are enjoying the long weekend. I'm just stopping by briefly before the day is out to share a few lovely images from the 2015 collection by Finnish brand Iittla. Their newest product came across my radar today and I love it! Keep reading to find out more.

Originally starting out as a glass factory, it's little wonder that their glass products are always aesthetically beautiful and of the highest quality. I love the little blown glass tealights above. The new stackable Plektra shown below is the result of a collaboration between Iittala and Dutch designer Ineke Hans. Holding the middle ground between side table and stool, I can see so many uses for this functional piece of furniture, such as a bedside table, or even as an extra stepstool for the kids. Made from high-quality plywood it fits well in Iittala’s family of simplified, yet playful and practical interior products.

Easy to move from room to room, I love the way the two heights look together in contrasting colours, so I think I'd have to get both! Find out more here

Simple Workspace Styling

If you're self-employed, you will have no doubt spent time working from a make-shift home office. In our previous house, an old rental during our our build phase, I worked many long hours at the dining table, bed and sofa with my laptop in tow. Nothing made me happier than setting up my own office in our new home, and it's still one of my favourite areas.

Styling and photography by Michelle Halford for TDC

While you may not have the luxury of a designated room, a home workspace lends itself well to improvisation. Utilise a corner of the bedroom or living room, a kitchen nook or even under the stairs. Upcylcle an old desk with a coat of paint, and add some love and comfort to an old or chair with a sheepskin, cushion or throw. In terms of styling, keep your space as uncluttered and functional as possible, but add your own personal style. Look for small storage containers to keep your bits and bobs in one easy to reach place, and add some nature by way of a plant or fresh flowers.

Bek Sheppard | Style Love

There is so much styling talent that comes out of Australia, and recently I was happy to have made a couple of new discoveries which I will be sharing this week. The first is Bek Sheppard, a sought after interior and props stylist from Melbourne. Working with an array of commercial clients, and collaborating with some of Australia's most renowned photographers and retailers, Bek specialises in art and creative brand direction. Here's a look at some of her recent work, with photography by Reuben Gates

I love this first shoot in particular. Featuring a stunning selection of furniture, lighting and artwork, the composition and light makes it really appealing to the eye. I'm also fascinated with the combination of colours that Bek has used. The deep red floor colour, grey wall, and pop of pink enhance the effects of light and shadow. I'm also lusting after that incredible chair, the Inka S200 from Cafe Culture + Insitu and the gorgeous circle artwork by Ettie Ink. The Bentu recycled concrete table from Meizai is also very cool.

How incredible are these striking Mexsii Bedheads? Made in Melbourne, the luxe artisan pieces must have been so much fun to style.

A quick mention before I go. I was really excited to wake up this morning to see that I had been included in the Bloglovin 10 Up & Coming Home Decor Blogs You Should Be Following feature. It's great to be recognised by such a large, global blog platform and amongst so many other great blogs. Pop over for a read!

I knew this week would be a busy one, especially having lost a day but I'm really feeling it today. I was working on a styling project yesterday which was fun despite the changeable weather. There were moments of clear skies and sunshine and then the heavens would open up. It went on like this all day. Not ideal for achieving even light, especially when photographing in different rooms of the house! This stunning listing on Swedish real estate Alvhem Mäkleri is bathed in sunlight. Spacious and airy, it would be a dream job for both a photographer and stylist. Sarah Widman and her team who work regularly for Alvhem have done an amazing job as always. The styling is thoughtful and considered, but not overdone in any way.

I can't get enough of grey tones, together with brass and marble right now, so the kitchen immediately caught my eye, but it's the addition of black accents and that perfectly imperfect picture wall that makes it even more on point.

Brown wood and leather elements add warmth and depth to the bright white spaces. I also love the vivid greenery dotted throughout the interior, as well as the glimpses from outside. See the full house tour here. It's well worth it!
