In Dialogue is a group exhibition curated by Henriette Noermark, in collaboration with Fredericia Furniture and Ark Journal. Exploring the heritage and legacy of Fredericia Furniture's classic Danish designs, the exhibition sees a selection of Danish and international artists and designers engage in conversation across rooms and surfaces, disciplines and generations, materials and perspective. Sculptural, organic shapes and an emphasis on materiality and structure are pervasive elements in the exhibited works, furthering the scope and scale of this dialogue. The works share the notion of quality, craftsmanship and the aim to create and nourish a sensuous bond between object and viewer, a sentiment which is also distinct in the Fredericia Furniture brand.

The exhibition is currently taking place at Fredericia Furniture in Copenhagen. I visited the showroom in 2017 and it is breathtakingly beautiful. The exhibition references American abstract painter Agnes Martin who once said “the measure of your life is the amount of beauty and happiness of which you are aware”, thus inviting us to be attentive to the detail in every aspect of life. With that, Cathrine Raben Davidsen, Natalie Weinberger, Maria Bruun & Anne Dorthe Vester, Kasper Kjeldgaard, Anne Brandhøj, Ole Vesterlund, Camilla Monsrud, Valerie Collart, Louise Moestrup, Pettersen & Hein, Mads Brandt, Camilla Skov and Matilde Duus, the participating artists of the exhibition ask the question: Can objects change the way we view our surroundings and the furniture we choose to live with?
