Whether you’re building, renovating or just giving tired cabinets a refresh, Architectural Hardware is an important element to consider. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it relates to hardware elements used in the building, architectural, and design industries, such as hinges, locks, knobs and handles. For today's post I'm focusing on the interior hardware elements including door and draw handles for cabinetry in the kitchen, bathroom and wardrobes. Small but impactful details, choosing the right hardware can really elevate the interior of your home. To demonstrate, I've chosen two standout brands that are offering inspiring solutions to suit both classic and contemporary style residential projects.

The Brandt
A recent discovery when I featured this gorgeous kitchen project last week, The Brandt specialises in luxurious hardware and door handles exquisitely crafted in a range of finishes and materials. Merging raw beauty with a refined and contemporary edge, The Brandt creates a look that is understated, elegant and inviting. Here are some beautiful examples from their collection.

Specialising in a bespoke look, The Brandt offers a wide range of styles, surfaces and materials, from an elegant composition of horn and brass, a modern urban expression in nickel and wenge, to the Nordic traditional style in oak. This makes it possible to mix and match the various fittings to create a truly personal touch for your kitchen, wardrobe, bathroom, doors and furniture – old and new. In addition to Pull Bars, the collection includes knobs, hooks, door handles and bathroom and kitchen accessories.

The Brandt was founded by Julie Brandt, who together with her team of architects and interior designers offer an interior consultancy BRANDT Collective. The projects featured above are part of their impressive portfolio which includes custom designed solutions for private and commercial clients. Representing renowned international interior and design brands, these work beautifully alongside BRANDT Collective’s own collection of hardware, furniture, lighting and objects.

Linear Standard
Frustrated with the lack of options in small architecture and interior hardware, Melbourne based Cassie James-Herrick of CJH Studio and husband Shaun Herrick took matters into their own hands and founded Linear Standard. With a refined and minimalist collection of architectural and interior wares, from cabinetry handles and hooks, to a new bathroom hardware range designed in house, the offering also includes small bespoke wares designed and made by the founders exclusively for Linear Standard in Melbourne. Here are some of my favourite designs.

Rough yet refined, the CALIN handle is made from ashwood, and is available in four finishes: chalk white wood, black, brown and raw

The curved LOUNGE handle features circle fixing roses and a thin rounded pull to create a soft yet minimal handle with various finishes and lengths available

The ECHO handle is made from ash wood and is available in four finishes: white wood, black, brown and raw finish

The ANGLE handle is made with an aluminium profile, and is characterised by its minimal straight lines

ARCHER is one of the newest curved cabinetry knobs and is available in black, white and brushed nickel

With a simple yet playful design, TOPO is an acrylic knob available in two sizes and six colour combinations (shown here paired with MYRA)

GRAFFITO is defined by its narrowed and lengthened characteristics and a unique back fixing (available in a new darkened brass finish, and also matte black and brushed aluminium)

ARCHIVE is a timber handle with a curved profile, that can be used vertically or horizontally (available in three finishes and three lengths)

See the full range at Linear Standard. I also recommend following Linear Standard on Instagram where you can see the products used in many inspiring interior projects by CJH Studio.
