As some of you may have seen on my Instagram, a highlight last week was testing out the Karen Walker Eau do Parfum. The Trio of fragrances: A,B and C are an exciting addition to the NZ fashion designer's existing repertoire that includes clothing, accessories, eyewear, and jewellery. Known for shaking things up, Karen Walker always finds a way of bringing something new and unique to the market, and these fragrances are no exception. Exuding optimism and energy, much like the designer herself, the fragrances were created in collaboration with Charobot, the oldest perfume house in the world. Travelling to Grasse in the South of France to work closely with them, Karen was able to form a partnership that combines the perfect combination of traditional craft and modern attitude.
“I’ve always wanted to create a range of fragrances and I’m thrilled with this trio. The three different scents allow the Karen Walker woman to have a scent for any mood, any day, any time and any occasion.” Karen Walker
A is the happiness potion.
A refreshing, fruity floral with top notes of cassis, crushed mint leaves and grapefruit, heart notes of rose, lily of the valley, green tea and ylang ylang, on a solar musk base.
B is feminine and efflorescent.
A delicious floral gourmand with top notes of bergamot, pink pepper, and grapefruit, heart notes of iris, white rose, peach and Sambac Jasmine, and base notes of patchouli, praline, tonka bean, musk and vanilla.
C is addictive. It’s compelling, opulent and generous.
A creamy, sensual floral with top notes of gardenia, magnolia,
mandarin and bergamot, heart notes of tuberose, orange flower, Sambac Jasmine and lily of the valley, and base notes of sandalwood, amber, musk, and cashmere wood.
For the gorgeous cube shaped bottles, which are a design feature in their own right, Karen chose the world-renowned fragrance bottle creator, Pochet du Courval in France. Founded in 1623, Pochet has almost four centuries of experience in creating the purest glass for the highest quality luxury perfume bottles. The bright graphics, a bespoke A,B and C which represent Karen's chic-meets-eccentric style were designed by London-based design house DJA, who are famed for their work with Prada and Dior.

The fragrance trio is exclusive to Harvey Nichols in the UK and Myer in Australia. In New Zealand it is available through the Karen Walker boutiques, top department stores as well as select fashion boutiques throughout the country.

To test out these incredible fragrances on the weekend, I decided to enlist the help of my close friend Natalie. Wine connoisseur and boutique candle designer, Natalie has a 'good nose' and natural affinity for beautiful fragrances having worked with perfumers in France. Of course I didn't need to twist her arm. Over a few wines we had a glorious girly afternoon, each deciding on a favourite!
I recommend testing them out in store, but here's a little bit about each, including their ingredients:
