As a stylist I often fantasise about having a purpose built studio and never ending-supply of props at hand. But in reality I love the challenge of thinking up new ideas, being resourceful and working with what I have. When I look for inspiration it's very much around that of a Scandinavian aesthetic, but it's not all about the latest trends. I love it when the stylist has thought outside of the box to come up with something new, even if its just a small detail. In fact it's often the small details that really make the difference. That and taking the 'less is more' approach.

The stunning 1978 blown-glass lighting design by Dutch designer Gijs Bakker has been put back into production by Danish homeware brand Lyngby Porcelain. Bakker's Tripod light is comprised of a single piece of clear mouth-blown glass, shaped like an elongated dome. I love it!

The same goes for design, which is why I've included a couple of examples in today's post. Unsurprisingly, the styling fits in perfectly with the theme. The Mirror Mobiles by Elkeland above are exquisite with their subtle play of light and understated appearance. Available in different shapes, the HalfMoons can be hung n several different ways, due to the sliding intersection of the brass sticks. So pretty and clever! The Elkeland Wallhanging is also on my wishlist.
The styling above and below are by two of my favourite Finnish stylists. I love their use of natural materials, the soft colour palettes and interesting textures.
