Most of you will be familiar with Henry and Co, from either seeing their sponsorship banner on the side of the blog, or their cute homewares throughout my home! A favourite when it comes to kids prints and textiles, I was very excited to learn of their newly launched bedding range called Little North. Scandinavian-inspired, the fun, monochrome duvet sets are the creation of Tauranga-based creative Vanessa Quin. The clever designer, printer and maker behind the brand, Vanessa is also a Mum and former world mountain bike champion!

The collection has brought to life her vision of bringing the magic of outside in... all those delightful childhood memories of lying in the backyard watching the clouds roll by, climbing trees, waiting for the next big lightning flash to appear, or dreaming of waking up to a yard covered in snow.

To celebrate the launch, Henry and Co are giving away a Little North Duvet Set to one lucky reader! Valued at up to $239 NZD, the winner gets to choose from one of the four gorgeous designs below, in either single or king single size.

To enter, follow these simple instructions:
  1. Like both the Henry and Co Facebook page and The Design Chaser Facebook page
  2. Email me at enter@thedesignchaser.com with Little North and your choice of Duvet Set (Cloud, Snowflake, Tree or Lightning Bolt) in the subject line.
  3. Include your full name in the email.
The competition is open WORLDWIDE and will close on Friday, 15th of August at 8am (UTC+12). The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced on the blog and Facebook page that day, and contacted via email to arrange shipping.

Good luck!

Interior Styling | Colour + Pattern

We've had a few chilly days and our share of colds this winter but overall it's been pretty mild. Regardless, there comes a time when I start to look ahead to spring, and I've definitely noticed this creeping in over the last couple of weeks. I also think it probably explains why I've been drawn to some of the more colourful interior images I've come across lately.

Whether you're heading towards the warmer months like us here in NZ, or faced with the onset of autumn and winter, injecting even some subtle colour and pattern into your interiors will add interest and brighten the mood. Textiles provide a great way of doing this and currently I'm loving some of the new products featured below, from brands such as Urban Outfitters, Country Road, Aura and By Nord

Living Room Walls | New In

My walls at home are an ever-evolving playground for me when it comes to styling. I've ticked a few things off my wishlist over the last couple of weeks and thought I'd share them with you today. Those who follow me on Instagram got a sneak peek at my Seletti Neon Art last week. Now available from the Seletti Boutiques in Auckland and Queenstown, I'll be introducing this company properly on the blog next month when they launch online!

Choosing the Seletti neon letters for our wall was fun but challenging! Seletti do offer some great ideas for words such as 'white light' which I love, but I wanted to come up with something a bit different, while only using a few letters. A recent Pinterest find, I came across a fun play on the term 'etc', with the letters standing for 'end of thinking capacity'. At that point I hadn't decided whether the letters would go in our living room or bedroom but either way, I knew it would fit perfectly. I work long hours in my home office, so when I'm in these other spaces the brain tends to switch off! Luckily Dean liked it too, and we decided on this corner of the living room, which needed a bit of love. We're just waiting for the power pack to come in - I can't wait to light it up!

Next up, I got the beautifully minimal Yeh Wall Table by Menu from the Simon James Concept Store. I chose the low table in light grey but it also comes in a tall size, in white, nude and moss green. I was deciding where it would go last week - it also looks fab in the hallway, my office and as a bedside table - when a surprise package arrived, the beautiful Diamond Poster from OY! Featured on one of my blog wishlists from a while back, the stunning artwork is by my friend and talented blogger Carol, from Costa Rica. While I would like to frame the poster, I couldn't wait and quickly stuck it up on the wall to take a photo. It fits in so perfectly with our living room and the Yeh Wall Table, I've decided to leave it there a bit longer! Available from Society6, Carol is adding to her gorgeous range all the time so make sure you check out her pieces here, as well as at her Etsy shop. I also recommend you follow her beautiful blog and Instagram feed

Lastly, I have two gorgeous new prints on my picture ledge thanks to the very sweet and talented Hanne Løvdal of Lovedales Studio. The Bat Cat and Falling Philodendron that I featured on the blog recently are perfect for our relaxed, kid-friendly space downstairs. They have also given me a great excuse to once again move things around!

Homes to Inspire | Amee Allsop

I first discovered Amee Allsop, an Australian designer based in New York City a while back. I was instantly drawn to her minimalist aesthetic which can be seen in both her architectural work and small collection of design pieces. Her latest project, Red Dirt Rd House, a residential beachouse renovation in East Hampton is beautifully clean and minimal, designed to capture the light and surrounding views.  A dreamy white palette with accents of black throughout, I particularly love the the airy kitchen, open plan living spaces, and master bedroom complete with freestanding tub.

I can't get enough of this bathroom, especially the black tapware. The images evoke a wonderful sense of calm, providing great inspiration for the weekend ahead. So much so, I've picked out my favourites to create some moodboard inspiration.

Before I go, I'm thrilled to announce the winner of the Henry and Co Little North giveaway. Huge congratulations to Annette Hynes, whose little boy turns two today! I got a big dose of the warm fuzzies when I found this out today. Thanks to everyone who entered, and to Vanessa of Henry and Co for her generosity.

Monday Mix Up

First up in today's mix up is The Poster Club, a new Copenhagen-based webshop offering a unique selection of handpicked posters from around the world. From minimalistic black and white drawings, typography and edgy photo prints to muliti-colored graphic posters, the range is inspired by the trends within Scandinavian design, lifestyle and interiors, but served with an international twist. I was very happy to see many of my favourites that I've featured here on the blog before such as Playtype and My Deer, as well as new posters that are exclusive to The Poster Club. With international shipping (free if you order 2 or more posters), this shop is definitely one to bookmark!

Do you remember the Book Hanger by Hanna Trotsman that I featured in this post? Unfortunately for those of us living outside of Scandinavia it's not easy to come by, so as an alternative, I wanted to let you know about this fantastic Rope Magazine Holder by one of my favourite bloggers, Joyce Croonen of MyDubio, who I previously featured here. As with all of her stunning, minimalist DIY creations, Joyce includes simple step by step instructions. Pop over for a look, where you'll also find a link through to an earlier post on how to make the gorgeous grey storage boxes with leather handles.

Based in Spain, Inbani specialises in innovative bathroom furniture. While the simple design features the clean lines and elegant aesthetic that I love, I haven't seen anything quite like this before. These images feature the Bowl collection which is inspired by the harmony and contrast between forms, volumes, spaces and materials. The styling, which includes copper and marble accents together with some of my favourite products from Menu, certainly transports me to my happy place!

My friend Natalie of LET LIV kindly asked me to check out the new ferm LIVING Catalogue as she is currently selecting products for her fabulous online store, and wanted to know my thoughts. Of course I was more than happy to oblige, especially when the products on offer are this good! The new range of rugs and cushions immediately jumped out at me, as did the marble candleholders. The exclusive Enter Collection, a collaboration between the New York based Søren Rose Studio and ferm LIVING is also stunning. Designed to match the classic and simple look of the ferm LIVING clothes rack, it consists of a mirror, a wall box, a magazine holder and hooks.

Cushions | Grown Ups + Kids

The majority of the cushions I've bought over the last couple of years have been online purchases. Being that they are a textile product and I'm quite a tactile person, not getting to feel them first has taken a bit of getting used to. With each new brand I buy from, there's a feeling of the unknown, even when their reputation precedes them. In saying that, I haven't been disappointed yet. In fact quite the opposite, I end up wishing I'd purchased more! In some cases I have actually gone back for seconds or even thirds. Some great examples include Fine Little Day, Kauniste, and most recently Kowtow whose limited edition range of Support Surface cushions I featured in this post. The cushions are a first in terms of homeware for the fashion label, who are known for their beautiful organic cotton and stunning signature designs. I was lucky enough to nab a Black Eyes on Blush cushion in the sale - take a look at my Instagram pic here - and sure enough when it arrived, I was so taken with the feel and look of it I wished I'd also got the grid design, which I ended up going back for!  The good news is they are doing more cushions this season, so make sure you sign up to their newsletter to stay in the loop.

The same goes for kids cushions and a standout would have to be Danish brand Lucky Boy Sunday. You simply cannot appreciate the softness of the products (made from Alpaca wool), until you feel them in person. When you do, it's hard to stop at just one!

Today I've rounded up some current faves, starting with the grown ups, although it's worth noting that some of these (in both categories) are designed to work in either adult or little ones' spaces...

1. ferm LIVING Maya Cushion
2. Teepees Black and White Cushion
3. Country Road Servi Cushion
4. OY! Funfetti Throw Pillow
5. Reversible Plus Cushion with Pom Pom Trim
6. ferm LIVING Black Triangle Cushion

And for the kiddies...

1. Rebecca Kiff Panda Cushion
2. Colette Bream Mountain Cushion
3. Fine Little Day Bird Cushion Cover
4. Lucky Boy Sunday Bobby Crystal Cushion Cover
5. Eye of the Dreamer Cushion by Club of Odd Volumes
6. Lucky Boy Sunday Secret Man Pillow
7. Fine Little Day Gran Cushion Cover in Japanese Linen
8. Anny Who Lion Cushion
9. Snow Caps Pastel Cushion

This post had been in the plans for a while, but seeing these stunning images by London-based photographer Jake Curtis yesterday made me realise I couldn't wait any longer. One of  the UK's leading interior photographers, his portfolio includes compelling dining, still life and and tablescape images. Known for his 'meticulously crafted lighting' Jake captures the spaces with extreme clarity and attention to detail. I can't help but be inspired by the gorgeous tableware and beautiful styling.

While I'm no gourmet cook or avid entertainer (relaxed summer barbies are more my style) I love ceramics and serveware. I'm always on the lookout for pieces that are stylish but can still be used everyday. Pure white will always be timeless, but marble and wood are also high on my must-have list right now. Here are some gorgeous examples.

Beautiful Marble Porcelain dinnerware by H&M. If only we could get it in NZ!

I'm loving the new tableware from the Country Road Spring 2014 range via Est

A fabulous new range from Finnish homeware brand Iittala, beautifully styled by Susanna Vento/Varpunen

A selection from the lovely French Country Collections' summer 2015 range, beginning to land in stores now. For stockists, take a look here

I'm a big fan of Auckland store Nest, who have an extensive collection of European kitchen and tableware, as featured recently in this post

I couldn't possibly do a tableware post without including sought after Danish brand Menu who have an incredible range of kitchen and dining products. A selection available in NZ from Simon James Concept Store

Another local favourite, Father Rabbitoffers a carefully curated range of homewares. For quality tableware, check out both their kitchen and dining sections

Mocka Jimmy Stand | Two Ways

The Mocka Jimmy Stand is a stylish storage solution, designed for keeping everyday items organised in the home. To demonstrate its versatility, I've styled it in two different ways to share with you you today.

The first is in my office, below the Stendig Calendar. This spot had been calling out for a piece of occasional furniture for sometime. I often place one of our extra stools there but mostly it has piles of magazines on the floor and artworks leaning up against the wall below. While I do quite like this relaxed look, lately I've been wanting to get a bit more organised. I wanted something that had a simple low-level design, clean lines, and of course a place to store and display things. The Ikea Trendig cart which I featured here was a strong contender but thanks to a contact in Scandinavia I found out it had sold out worldwide. Not long after, I came across the Mocka Jimmy Stand and I knew right away I had found a fantastic alternative.

What I love most about the Jimmy Stand is that it can be moved around from room to room, wherever extra storage is needed. The hallway is ideal, providing additional space for shoes and bags. Looking right at home below our Muuto Dots, I actually really love this little area of our home, which I walk past many times a day to and from my office. The Garcon Cap and White Feltball Garland are new in from Style Trader, and the artwork is part of a series that belonged to my Dad. Passionate about his work in textiles, Dad loved the vintage loom drawings, and passed them on to me and my sisters.

The Jimmy Stand also works well in the bathroom, where extra storage is needed for towels and toiletries. Also available in pure white, it super affordable, priced at just $49.95 NZD! For more info take a look here

Interior Styling Inspo | x 3

I have three fabulous finds to share with today, each unique in terms of interior style but all undoubtedly Scandinavian. Let's get started!

First up, here's a peek at the new Autumn Winter 2014 catalogue from Danish homeware brand OYOY. Their 'less is more' mantra, fun graphics and gorgeous styling wins me over every time. The delightful new collection includes the introduction of OYOY MINI, designed for both children and playful souls!

For the full range, take a look at the OYOY AW 12014 catalogue

One of my favourite interior stylists, Susanna Vento has teamed up with the beautiful design brand Studio Macura who are based in the Netherlands, to produce these stunning images. While the products alone are exquisite, Susanna's styling which includes the perfect mix of marble, pale wood and black accents takes it to an entirely new level. I'm lusting after the Visi Coat Hooks, Lako Magazine Holder and Bocca watering bottle for plants.

Lastly, Norwegian paint manufacturer Jotun has launched a new collection of paints which will no doubt inspire those of you who are loving dusty colours right now. The nude, green and grey are my favourites.

For some added reading today, take a look at Daily Life where I was asked to give some 'dos and don'ts' of decorating living rooms. Daily Life is Australia's number one women's website and part of the Sydney Morning Herald website, so I was honoured to offer some inspo for all those stopping by today!

Some monochrome inspo for you today, starting with the latest project by Studio Oink, an interior design company based in Germany. Founded by creative directors Lea Korzeczek and Matthias Hiller, I've been following their work for some time, so I was excited to see a sneak peek of their latest project for bastisRIKE. Showcasing the beautifully simple aesthetic and playful vibe they are known for, I can't wait to see more.

I'm a little bit in love with this with the new Ikea Sillerup rug. Designed by Synnöve Mork as a tribute to Sergels' square, Stockholm's main focal point, the striking graphic pattern of both the concrete and rug has been captured by photographer Christian Gustavsson.

Nespresso | The Art of Coffee + Milk

When it came to purchasing a coffee machine for our new home we didn't think twice about choosing a Nespresso. One of the best decisions we made, our Umilk machine has already done a lot of mileage yet still looks and works like new. Beautifully suited to our white kitchen, I love its sleek, compact design which includes the very clever Aeroccino, a simple and fast automatic system for the preparation of light and creamy hot or cold milk froth.

I'm sure like me, many of you are Nespresso devotees who have enjoyed tasting the extensive range of Grand Cru coffees. What you may not know however, is each Grand Cru actually develops new taste variations when combined with milk. Depending on which Grand Cru you use, a cappuccino, latte or macchiato can reveal many different, delicious aromas. To try for yourself take a look at these recipes, which show you how to enhance your favourite coffee moments throughout the day.

To assist you with your search, use the drop down keys on the left hand side of the site, to choose your preferred Grand Cru, type of milk and even mood. Stepping outside of my (flat white) comfort zone yesterday, this tool helped me find the Winter Breeze coffee recipe, a spicy winter warmer with honey, ginger and cinnamon. With a chill in the air, and a new box of Indriya from India Grand Cru capsules waiting to be tasted for the first time, I couldn't wait to give it a go!

I'm not a fan of sweet coffees, so I adjusted the recipe slightly to include just a drop of honey, rather than a whole spoonful. The touch of ground ginger perfectly compliments the spiciness of the Indriya Grand Cru. I also learnt a new technique of adding the espresso to the milk rather than vice versa, which results in a lovely creamy texture.

Using my favourite mug, I couldn't resist spooning on a bit of the milk froth on at the end because I love the taste. I also made one in a glass to show you the layering effect.

So pretty, easy to prepare, and it tastes delicious. I will definitely be making this one again soon!

Now it's your turn to get creative....

To celebrate The Art of Coffee & Milk, Nespresso are giving away two incredible prize packs, including the new Lattissima+ Limited Edition coffee machine and selected Nespresso accessories. Simply share your coffee and milk creations by uploading a photo to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, tagging #NespressoCreations and @Nespresso by 31st August. For more info and T&C's, take a look here.

Monday Mix Up

Starting the week with a Mix Up is great because I can go through all the finds I've bookmarked from the week prior. I do however try to group them according to similarity, and I'd have to say that while today's picks all include examples of impeccable design featuring clean lines and simplicity, they also have a bit of a masculine feel.

First up, these kitchens are the work of ARIS Architects, who have offices in both Italy and Tunisia. With a focus on cutting edge design that is both environmental friendly and sustainable, the attention to detail is really impressive. I love the use of wood which adds interest and warmth to the bright white walls and textural concrete.

You may have noticed I have a thing for coat hooks, so when I got wind of my favourite Danish brand Menu doing their own take on one for their Autumn Winter 2014 collection, I knew it had to be good. Designed by Stockholm studio Afteroom, the Coat Hanger is made from powder-coated aluminium and is simple yet striking thanks to a clever design, featuring horizontal and vertical bars and dot-shaped coat hooks.

Available in black and white, I can't think of anywhere more stylish to hang the dustpan! (For the record, I also want that Menu Dustpan and Sweeper). The new Afteroom products for Menu are due to be launched, along with a new Lounge Chair and Bar Stool at the Maison & Objet trade fair in Paris, which runs from 5 to 9 September.

Images via Dezeen

Another one of my favourite Danish design brands Muuto have recently launched some new products. The Airy Coffee Table by Cecilie Manz, shown below alongside the incredible Peter Skogstad Soft Blocks Sofa was inspired by the idea "to create a coffee table that did not scream but still was not afraid to speak." Mastering a fine balance between being light and airy, while still packing a punch in terms of personality and individuality, I think it is quite possibly the perfect combination!

The Iskos Berlin Fiber Chair by Muuto features an iconic form that combines soft embracing curves with an environmentally friendly wood fibre composite. It has also now been added to my office chair wishlist.

A private apartment in Florence, this next home was designed by Filippo Carandini Studio. The large open plan spaces give a feeling a grandeur, while the herringbone flooring and internal steel doors are two standout features for me.

Musings + Moodboards

The best thing about September, besides it being my birthday month is that it marks the arrival of Spring. The change has been most welcome, especially after a few miserable wet days, one very sick child and a cabin-fever style weekend with two very late nights working away at my computer. The aftermath being a severe case of Mondayitis! So when the sun came out yesterday along with a distinct rise in temperature, things were looking up. I rarely escape my office during the precious school hours, but I had the perfect excuse (and a reminder of why I love my work so much), an invitation to attend a private viewing of the stunning Saben Winter 2015 range. I was literally in handbag heaven! Available in stores early next year, I will be sure to show you a sneak peek in due course.

I've also been working with lovely clients who have chosen a monochrome Scandi theme with yellow accents for their home renovations. Such a bright and happy colour, I love working with yellow. Perfectly suited to Spring, I'm still loving dusky pinks, and chalky blues. Today's moodboard was inspired by the gorgeous GoodNorm bedding by Menu which comes in a range of scrumptious muted colours.

Another big project I've been working on is for the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) who have put together a blog called GoodHome. A collection of inspiration and tips, the site is designed to help BNZ home loan customers with everything from interiors and DIY to home finances and the property market. Along with two other industry experts  - the well-loved TV personality John "Cocksy" Cocks and author/TV presenter Stephen Hart - I am providing the design-related content. I've written three blog posts so far, one of which is the start of  a Room Series where in each issue I'll be focusing on a different room in the house, showing simple ways to enhance and improve the space. The other posts include an Affordable ArtStep by Step Guide and One Tip Styling Tricks, Room by Room. Whether you're a home owner or looking to buy, you'll find a wealth of information, so make sure you pop over for a read!

It's funny, when I set out to write one of these Instagram posts I think I'll get it published quick smart. All I have to do is choose some of my pics, and some from a couple of inspiring feeds I follow, of which there is never any shortage. How hard can it be? The trouble is, I end up browsing through photo after photo from my fave feeds of late, and before I know it I'm on the web hunting madly for that perfect Icelandic sheepskin I have desperately wanted forever or I'm thinking up new ways of styling little corners of my home. I can seriously lose hours! All that said, I love the feeling I get when I find one of those magic feeds that really resonates. One that is truly authentic, where the images portray all the things I love... creativity, simplicity and artistic style. I have two feeds to share with you today that deliver all of the above, and then some. But first, here are a few of my recent Instagram moments.

One more because I now have a soft spot for this photo after it was chosen for my Do's and Don'ts of Decorating Living Rooms on the Sydney Morning Herald website Daily Life last week, as well as being posted to local news website Stuff.co.nz.

I'm also blown away by having reached nearly 21k followers! Thanks so much to all of you out there who follow me!

The first feed I want to share with you today is @hellozoma by Michael Zoma, owner the UK based Zoma Design Store. One look at the gorgeous range of Scandinavian products on offer and it's clear this man has impeccable taste. The second feed, @fashioncoolnesshappens to belong to his wife, blogger Rachel Smart. I can't get enough of their cool, minimalist style and stunning home that they share with their adorable son Miro. Here are few favourite pics.

Featured in the September issue of Inside Out magazine, this gorgeous Melbourne home has a bright and happy vibe, perfect for a Friday! Originally an Edwardian cottage, the incredible transformation was carried out by architect Clare Cousins via lots of Skype calls with the owners, who at the time were on the other side of the world.

Despite an almost all-white canvas, this light-filled home is packed with warmth and personality thanks to the addition of timber and colour, including plenty of natural greenery. I particularly love the bedroom below, which features a contrasting black fireplace, softened by a pink Hans Wegner Plank Chair and graphic artwork by Kristina Krogh.

norsu Turns One | Special Reader Offer

Like me, many of you would've become well acquainted with norsu interiors over the past year. Based in Australia, the gorgeous online boutique offers a carefully curated collection of Nordic homewares. Founded by Kristy and Nat, two clever ladies who first met at their local Mother's group, they shared not only the experience of becoming new mums, but also a mutual obsession with Scandinavian design. Constantly trawling Scandi blogs and interior mags, one common theme emerged, and that was the lack of access consumers had to beautiful Scandinavian products in Australia and New Zealand. Deciding this had to be changed (helped along by their little ones Annabel and Lachy becoming self-confessed 'best friends'), norsu was born.

Having just celebrated their first birthday, Kristy and Nat have taken the plunge with their first bricks and mortar retail space opening in Malvern East, Melbourne in October. Further fuelling the excitement, I have some exclusive imagery to share with you today showcasing Norsu's current range of products, including those from amazing Scandinavian designers By Nord, Fine Little Day, Louise Roe Design, OYOY Living Design, Pia Wallen and Sne Design, just to name a few! New to the norsu collection are Danish brand ferm LIVING and the soon to be launched Swedish Rebel Walls wallpaper collection from importers Scandinavian Wallpapers and Décor.

Aren't the images exquisite?! Kristy and Nat are truly dedicated to bringing you the very best in Scandi design, and I know first hand how amazing their customer service is. Two of the most lovely people I've had the pleasure of working with, I'm very happy to tell you that they are carrying on the celebratory mood today! Interior Styling | The Simple Hanger

Ideal for small spaces, simple ladders, freestanding clothing racks and hanging rails are not only functional items for the home, they provide an interesting design element for any interior space.

Perfect for bedrooms, ladders provide a place to hang throws and keep clothes off the floor (my pet peeve). Currently I have my eye on the Menu Ladder, which is both stunning and versatile. Also available in black, I have the white and oak one (shown above as a bathroom towel rack) in mind for our living room to hang magazines and the odd throw. It would also work well beside the kids desks to hang their favourite books, and of course the bedroom.

Mounted to the wall or ceiling, clothing rails are great for the hallway for hanging coats, or in the bedroom where there is insufficient wardrobe space.

Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Even though we have a walk-in wardrobe, I love the idea of a very minimalist clothing rail suspended from the ceiling to hang a few favourite wardrobe items, or those currently on high rotation. Interior stylist Annaleena Leino produces an incredible range of rails, including a round rail, shown below in an amazing Soho Apartment bedroom designed by New York-based architect Amee Allsop, whose work I recently featured hereThey are certainly not limited to the bedroom either. I love how Jennifer Hagler has worked one into her kitchen below.

There are also plenty of DIY options around, that will have you running to the hardware store. Here are some from three of my favourite bloggers. Follow the links below for step by step instructions.

Apologies for the sporadic posting this week. I've had lots of work meetings, kids cross country and so on. It's been nice to get out of the office but I'm now furiously catching up. I've ended up with several half-finished posts, which will now come to fruition next week, because this one has jumped the queue, thanks to some great finds this morning.

As you know, I can't resist an innovative shelving system, especially one that comes from Scandinavia. The FLIP bookshelf is a design collaboration between Copenhagen-based architects and designers Kevin Hviid and Mikkel Damsbo for MUNK Collective. A clever design comprising square, hexagon and trapezoid forms, means the bookshelf can be configured in many different ways, depending on how you flip them. I'd sure love to have a play! Available in four different colours, the shelves are beautifully styled along with the  FRAME trays and HOOKED hangers, two other great products by MUNK Collective

I feel that I haven't been posting enough homes lately but luckily Fantastic Frank always delivers some fresh inspo! These two listings fit nicely with today's white and bright theme.

A quick message for Aucklanders before I go.... the Herne Bay Spring Markets are on tomorrow, and it promises to be a fantastic event for locals, the design community, families and anyone looking for a day of shopping, food and entertainment. Pop along to the Wallace Rd Corner Stores between 10am-3pm and you'll find...

Artists talks by Matt Ellwood and Sam Mitchell at Melanie Roger Gallery, muesli served by Pretty Damn Good For You and almond milk from Carew Kitchen at Simon James Concept Store, mini-manicures from Butter London at Tessuti, tastings and gifts with purchase at Father Rabbit, Gin & Tonic served at Kathryn Wilson, and 10% off at The Ivy House. There will also be a Clown for the children’s entertainment, $1 yoga classes at Herne Bay Yoga, new season menu samples at Zus & Zo, and many more special promotions and offers at each shop on the day.

Wow, what an amazing line up. See you there!

Interior Styling | Black Accents in the Bathroom

I love black accents in the bathroom, so it's great to see a growing trend in this area. When I designed ours I looked into black tapware which adds a unique twist and striking contrast in all-white bathrooms, but there was very little if anything on offer. I'll be on the lookout soon for a styling client, and I'm really excited to see what I can now find!

There are of course other ways to add black to your bathroom besides tapware. The bathtub below is a real showstopper. I also love the black window frames and ceiling in the following image. If you prefer not to do anything too drastic, look for black accessories such as storage containers, bins  and towels. To add warmth and texture to a black and white bathroom, mix in timber, stone and marble elements.

TheTwentyTwo

Launched in July of this year, TheTwentyTwo is an interior, design and lifestyle brand offering simple, yet beautifully essential items for the home. Based out of Australia, the online space brings simplicity, beauty, quality and affordability together, extending from the wardrobe to the living room, to dining room and kitchen. With over 500 unique products available, I had my work cut out for me selecting some to share with you today!

Co-Founders and sisters Vicki and Jennifer Lee created TheTwentyTwo to offer a new space that could enable their love of art, fashion, nature, cooking, pottery, ceramics and homeware to blend into one. Formerly a lawyer, Vicki's diverse career path led her to owning a women's fashion label before launching the family-owned online store. She also holds a strong personal passion for painting, developed and extended by her fiancé Tedd O’Donnell, featuring collaborations and further work due to be exhibited in the near future. Intelligent and creative, Vicky has a strong vision for TheTwentyTwo that is both beautiful and inspiring:

"The landscape of fashion and life is in constant flux, bombarding our visual horizon with aspirational imagery. A trillion snapshots of how life could be, how it should be, if only we could get there. Every now and then, we stop and breath release, and imagine a world in white - a world stripped of clutter and excess. This place I am describing is home of TheTwentyTwo.”

Understated yet carefully considered, TheTwentyTwoaesthetic is one that I was immediately drawn to. Their vast range of products are showcased across four different collections: Bottles, Mini Bake, Raw Wood and French Countryside

Vicki kindly answered a couple of questions for us today...

Where does the name TheTwentyTwo come from?

The number twenty-two has a simple euphonious presence in our opinion. It is a beautiful sound in itself. We love the number twenty-two because it is so balanced, even and still.

It represents the brands aspiration of simplicity, consistency and beauty. We created TheTwentyTwo space for people to enjoy simplicity in all its immense power. TheTwentyTwo is a lifestyle brand where we see art as a way of life, a way of seeing the world around you , not as a canvas on the wall alone.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Ted and I draw inspiration from each others work in the same way we learn from each other in everyday life. Our tempo's are pretty much opposite but after a small amount of time together we always merge into one strong pulse down the middle.

Ted's is like the big log you put in the fire to keep it going, consistently, all night long. And I am like the leaves and bark you put on the top to get the sparks going immediately but momentarily. Together, we make a pretty strong flame and inspire each other in our separate work as well as our work together. Ted has a precision and eye for detail that is annoyingly perfectionist.

Here are a few more of my favourites from TheTwentyTwo Living Section, where you'll also find luxurious bedding and many gorgeous gift ideas.

Of course there is much more on offer! TheTwentyTwo ships worldwide, with free shipping on all orders over $200. Make sure you sign up to receive news and updates, and follow along on Facebook and Instagram
