New Years Eve

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I'm enjoying some downtime with my family, but just wanted to stop by before the year is out. In between water-gun fights with the boys in the sun, catching up on books and mags, watching movies and eating way too much yummy food I've found a few new things to share.

I love the clean lines created by suspension lights and this new one by German industrial designer Veronika Gombert is divine. Ideal for room situations where the electricity connection is not where actually want the lamp to be hanging, the flexibility of the Umleiter lamp helps you get direct light where you need it.

The queen of the minimalist clothes hanger, Annaleena Leino has just released two new designs. Perfection!

I was lucky to receive a beautiful new necklace for Christmas from my boys and I'd love to keep it in this stylish Jewellery Box from Menu, also featured on my moodboard below. Designed by talented Copenhagen-based Theresa Arns who I featured here, it comes in black ash, dark ash and white oak.

Finally I just want to say a massive thank you to all of you! It's been an amazing year filled with many blog highs. I'm continually surprised and delighted by the growth and opportunities, but most of all I cherish your support and the incredible people I have met along the way. I will be toasting to all of you tonight and can't wait to see what 2015 brings!

Wishing you all the best for a safe and happy New Year.

See you on the 5th of January!

Since stopping by to wish you all a Happy New Year I've spent most of my time at the beach with family and friends. Feeling recharged and excited for the year ahead, I can't wait to get back into blogging regularly, although I know I probably won't be full steam ahead until the kids return to school and kindy in early February. While I've had a predominately tech-free holiday, even refraining from picking up my iPhone for hours at a time (a great achievement for me) Pinterest and Instagram have been my go-to's when I've felt like a little dose of interior inspo. As such I thought it fitting that my first post for 2015 would be a Pinterest one. Instagram will follow later this week!

Things are pretty quiet on the real estate front at this time of year, but this listing on Stadshem caught my eye for obvious reasons. White and bright with loads of character and charm, I can't stop thinking about that pink Muuto Visu Chair. See the full house tour here

A Christmas decoration created by Sarah Sherman Samuel of Smitten Studio, I'm not sure I'd ever take this DIY wall hanging down!

Another DIY, I love this Wall Organiser by blogger Rebecca of Sinnenrausch, via Dwanda Blog. Simple yet practical, it's perfect for a kids room, but would also be handy in any workspace. A list of materials and instructions can be found here

One more for the kids, how cute is this bedroom? Styled for the latest issue of Inside Out by Jessica Hanson and photographed by Craig Wall.

The H&M Home Spring 2015 Collection has been inspired by the season itself, bringing light and nature into the home. It's great to see that the soft dusty pinks and metallic accents of last year are here to stay.

The metallics and green plant provide a beautiful contrast to the grey backdrop, but the artwork is a real standout in this image. Clicking through from Pinterest, I was interested to discover it is actually an ACNE shawl that the owner had framed. Find out more on Skona Hem

Based in Sweden, WIHO Design create a gorgeous range of posters for kids. Founders Anna and Jasmina say it began with maternity leave, a little too much coffee and two 'way too nice' babies! Once they started the creativity flowed and there was was no stopping them. Always on the look out for fresh new ideas for kids rooms, I think these cute posters would make the perfect addition to any Scandi-style nursery or kids space.

With lots of fun designs to choose from, I particularly love the muted colours and customised name prints. The Pantone-inspired colour block posters are further personalised to include a birth date, making them the perfect present for a new baby.

Design Ministry is a new home decor brand founded by Auckland-based graphic designer Samantha Vergis. Launching with a range of striking Scandinavian inspired bed linen,  Samantha sent me one of her cushions which features a monochrome cross on the front and copper grid on the back. Quickly making its way to our sofa, the clean minimalist design is the perfect fit for either the bedroom or lounge.

Styling and Photography by Michelle Halford for T.D.C

Eager to view the new collection in its entirety, I attended a launch evening held at MINI Garage in Newmarket and it didn't disappoint. In addition to beautifully styled beds showcasing the new designs, the MINI boots were up and packed with gorgeous Design Ministry cushions, providing plenty of eye-candy. All proudly designed, printed and manufactured in NZ, the products are characterised by both minimalism and functionality. If you're a fellow lover of geometric shapes and monochrome colour palettes, it doesn't get better than this!

A fascination for simplicity and clean lines paved the way for Samantha's initial career choice and has ultimately shaped her design style. During her final year at university she was tasked with self-directing an exhibition, allowing her to explore print and pattern design. It was then that she realised her passion for design lay in textiles and more specifically bed linen. Since completing her Bachelor of Graphic Design in 2009 she began freelancing and has worked as a designer ever since.

Samantha says Design Ministry was established not only as a result of years of planning and design refinement but also by furthering her knowledge of the local print and manufacturing process. While it is now her core creative outlet, Samantha still works with a range of clients. She not only enjoys the diversity of these graphic design projects but says that keeping up to date with a variety of different design areas influences her creations for Design Ministry.

As a New Zealander, it is important to Samantha to ensure that the products are not only made to a high standard but also support the local industry. As such they are 100% New Zealand designed, printed and manufactured. Certain to create a graphic statement in your home, the duvets are available in Queen, King and Super King size with pillow cases and cushions (square and rectangle) designed to mix and match.

Shop the full range online. With the next range of prints currently in production and the possibility of upcoming collections expanding into other areas of the home, be sure to subscribe and follow on social media to stay in the loop!

As mentioned earlier this week, despite having a technology-free break over the Christmas-New Year period I did check into Pinterest and Instagram from time to time. Covering off the Pins on Monday, here's a look at some pics from my IG feed of late.

Images via @thedesignchaser

For something a little different today I'd thought I'd share a list of things I'm loving right now for summer and the new year. Most of these have featured on my Instagram feed lately, some more than once!

Summer entertaining with Fog Linen tea towels and wooden spoons from Father Rabbit, and a gorgeous House Doctor Geometry Tea Towel and Ash Hardwood Kitchen Board from Paper Plane.

I'm literally in minimalist Scandi-style-stationery heaven right now, and will have no excuse for being disorganised this year! In addition to my 2015 Limited Edition diary by An Organised Life and Marjolein Delhaas 2015 Weekly Planner from Neutral Instinct I'm loving my 2015 Els & Nel Journal and from LET LIV and Kikki K Daily Planner

Our Everything is Awesome Paper Storage Bags from HENRY & CO made the coolest Christmas stockings for the kids. Even better, they can be used all year round.

Nothing beats holiday sleep-ins, especially with beautiful bedding. We love our Aztec black and white Pillow Cases from On The Sly.

I'm currently burning my Lumira Tuscan Fig Luxury Soy Candle (a firm fave) as well as the new Lumira Paradisium fragrance. I also love my Vila Candlestick and Diamond Candleholders from the new Bo Concept 2015 collection available in store now.

My must-have beach accessory this summer has been my Hinza Market Bag from Citta Design. Designed and made in Sweden since the 1950s, it looks so good and can hold so much!

I never leave home without our Aztec Roundie Towel from The Beach People and I always throw in one of my Fouta Towels which get softer with each wash. My latest discovery is the Pebbly Rock Fouta, a gift from Havianas NZ

I like to keep my beauty regime to a minimum but have made some recent discoveries that are so good, they have become daily essentials:

Coola Organic Suncare is amazing! I use the Sport spf 30 Piña-Colada Sunscreen Spray and Face spf 20 Rose Essence Tint Mineral Sunscreen. You can purchase these in-store at Havianas NZ

I can't go past the clean, minimalist packaging and all-natural ingredients of the Kiyoko Lip Balm from LET LIV.

Packed with powerful antioxidants, Renew Certified Organic Rosehip Oil by Skinfood New Zealand is perfect for dehydrated skin.

Hand-creams are up there with candles for me - a must-have item. In addition to Aesop and L:a Bruket I'm currently loving Soothe Tube by ASHLEY & CO, a new intensive hydrating hand cream containing a rich yet non-greasy blend of shea butter, camomile & vitamin E. I have the Blossom & Gilt (one of four fragrances) and it is divine!

It can feel a bit sad taking down the Christmas tree and decorations, but I loved clearing the space this time around. Giving the entire upper floor of our home a thorough clean and de-clutter at the same time, including my office, I felt ready to dive into work and kick-start the year. With the sad demise of a few indoor plants over these warmer months, I am however keen to replace them or try some new varieties. I popped into Indie Home Collective on the way home from a meeting today to pick up a few simple leaves. They always have a great supply, and the Palm and Monstera ones I chose have a lovely summer vibe. It's such an easy and inexpensive way to add some greenery around the home. I'm also looking for inspiration on the web and thought I'd share some of my finds. All featuring plants, I love the monochrome palettes and simple relaxed Scandi-styling of these interiors.

Monday Mix Up

Today's Mix Up post features three beautifully elegant Danish brands. The first is Woud, a new discovery promising designs that radiate "love at first sight” through colours, textiles, wood and aesthetics. Admittedly my heart started racing as soon as I took in the range of stunning products. With the perfect combination of form and function, Woud strives to add a touch of innovation while staying true to the simplicity anchored in their Nordic design heritage. With the launch currently underway, Woud will be presenting their new collection at the upcoming design fairs in Copenhagen and Stockholm. Take a look at the Woud SS15 catalogue and follow on Instagram and Facebook for all the behind the scenes details.

The well-loved and always inspiring Danish brand House Doctor have launched their  Everyday Collection for 2015. Secret Signatures is an informal take on Scandinavian design, with a calming and subdued colour palette featuring hues of green and grey. A combination of sculptural details, offbeat art objects and vintage references, this looks like one of their best yet! Check out the catalogue here

I've been admiring the Danish brand GamFratesi for some time. A visit to Cult Design late last year sealed the deal when I saw (and tested) their Beetle Chair. Manufactured by Danish company Gubi, GamFratesitakes their inspiration from both the anatomy and aesthetic of the beetle, reinterpreting the beetle’s hard and characteristic shell and structure in a chair that, like an actual beetle, has a hard exterior and a soft interior. Timeless and extremely conformable, the chair is fully upholstered in Kvadrat fabric with leather piping detail. I've also been itching to share the beautiful Verandah Restaurant in Copenhagen with you and would love to one day visit it in person. Designed by GamFratesi, it features both the Beetle Chair and Beetle Stool

It's hard to choose, but my other pick from GamFratesi would have to be the Volume lamp, manufactured by Danish lighting company Lightyears. A small table lamp that takes inspiration from the buttons on the old stereo amplifiers, the intensity of the light can be increased or decreased  by a simple rotation of the hand on the shade. Oh how I would love one of these for my office desk or String shelf!

Visit GamFretesi to see their entire collection.

Transforming everyday bathroom objects into accessories with personality, EVER is a new brand by Italian company Thermomat. The contemporary products are simple yet innovative, designed with both functionality and safety in mind, in order to meet the needs of the entire family. Perfect for use as a towel rack, the Gambol Ring can also be hung over the bath to assist in standing up and getting out when the surface is slippery.

The Gambol Bar is another fun alternative to the traditional towel rack.

I love these DIY ideas via The Merrythought which include a Rack & Shelf and Hand Towel Ring. Both are simple, inexpensive and take just minutes to make! Materials and instructions can be found here and here.

These functional pale wood pieces provide simple storage while adding warmth to the beautiful minimalist bathroom. Designed by Maja of Musta Ovi for new home build, she has used the Interior Ladder and Koppa Tool Box by Verso Design.

Images via Must Ovi

Ladders always provide a great alternative to the traditional stainless steel towel rack. For a heated towel rail option I love Memory, a bathroom ladder designed by Benedini Associati for Agape. Attached to the wall through an invisible system, it comes in either a black or white painted finish. Another stylish and innovative design is the Giulietta by Luis Arrivillaga. A simple floor standing mirror made from tubular steel powder-coated with solid wood details, the clever design includes a handy towel rail.

The Normann Copenhagen Pocket Organiser makes a great addition to the bathroom. I love how Deborah has mounted hers to the wall above the basin to store everyday items.

Textural Blues for 2015

We're seeing a lot of textural blues coming through in interiors this year by way of watercolour artworks and tactile fabrics and ceramics. Danish design house Broste Copenhagen have highlighted this trend beautifully in their Spring/Summer 2015 Lookbook. Inspired by the life of a working artist, the story created for this season really does make it feel as though you are stepping into an artist's workspace. The blue watercolours provide a stunning backdrop for the new range.

Styled by Marie Graunbøl and photographed by Line Thit Klein and assistant Chris Tonnesen

To see more, check out the Lookbook and Catalogue.

Broste Copenhagen teamed up with talented illustrator and graphic designer Silke Bonde to produce the beautiful watercolour artworks, and as you can see from her own personal collection below, blue is a common theme. I love the subtlety of these prints, which allow you to add small touches of blue texture to your home.

You can shop the Silk Bonde collection online, or at worldwide stockists including Norsu Interiors and The Poster Club

Multi-award winning Australian interior design practice Hare + Klein have launched an exciting collaboration with Designer Rugs. With texture as the common thread of the collection, they have incorporated raw and tactile materials including wool, hemp, silk and bamboo. The rugs have all been hand-dyed in Katmandu using a technique called Abrash, which creates subtle colour variation and character, adding to the unique qualities of each rug. The two rugs below, Etched by Eloise Fotheringham and Swept by Melanie Kightley feature beautiful blue tones.

See the entire collection here.

An established brand in modern Danish design, Casalinga was launched by ceramicist and designer Trine Weng in 2008. Staying true to an unmistakably Scandinavian expression, the products are driven and characterised by equal parts functionalism, storytelling and quality. Once again the appeal of textural blues is apparent, this time with a range of hand-made porcelain vases, bowls and candlesticks.

AIM Pendant Light by FLOS

It's no secret that I've had the iconic FLOS 265 wall lamp designed by Paolo Rizzatto on my wishlist for a very long time. Lately I've been dreaming about the FlOS AIM, a pendant light that like the 265 is uniquely minimalist and also destined to become a design classic. Designed and created in Italy by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, AIM is naturally positioned in space ‘like a plant’ with long cables providing maximum freedom to adjust the direction and height of the light source. Similar to hanging vines, the long, free wires allow for infinite adjustability while providing a sense of the natural, as the wires seem to develop and grow like branches or climbing plants.

The lights look incredible suspended from the high ceilings of the London Display Loft above. A re-development of the iconic Saint Martins School of Art in Charing Cross, in collaboration with Soho-based design hub 19 Greek Street, see more of this amazing apartment here

Above the kitchen island or dining table, the AIM lights would certainly make a great talking point at a dinner party.

The AIM comes is black and white and can be purchased as a single, or in a group of up to five lights. Available from worldwide stockists including ECC and NEST, visit FlOS for more information.

Studio Esinam

Based in Sweden, studio esinam was founded by art director Josefine Lilljegren and architect Sebastian Gokah. The creative duo produce beautiful architectural art prints that capture the unique aspects of cities around the world. Whether it's the feeling you get from visiting a certain city, the texture of a façade or the balance of an interior space, their aim is to explore and communicate the deeper qualities of architecture, by looking at it from new angles and presenting it fresh and engaging ways.

Appealing to those who have a genuine interest in interior and exterior spaces, the artworks spoke to me straight away. Aesthetically I love the minimalist style and clean lines, and was very excited to have the opportunity to style a couple of the prints in my home. I chose one of my favourite cities Paris, and one of the cities I would most like to travel to, Stockholm.

From the Elevations series, the Stockholm print looks right at home in our living room, giving this corner a fresh update for the start of the year. I had fun styling this area in two ways, the first a monochrome setting with a few touches of copper, which you might have seen on Instagram. I chose to share the more colourful setting with you, because I think the summery vibe is perfect right now. The geometric cushions from Juno Home Studio add a playful touch.

Styling and Photography by Michelle Halford for T.D.C

The beautiful Paris print makes the perfect addition to my picture wall. Part of a new series, Landmarks, these limited edition prints pay honour to buildings and monuments that have become synonymous with places, neighbourhoods and cities as a whole. To Josephine and Sebastien, architecture is so much more than just visual. Fascinated with the symbolic values of the buildings, they see the stories that surround them, capturing the essence of what each place means to them, in both their complexity and simplicity.

".... it’s the smell of the bakery shop on the corner, the feeling of a handle when entering a building, the sound of cars or birds forming the back drop of a scene. It’s the memories and emotions that a place can preserve for decades and bring to life in a second, the calming experience of your grand parents old cabin or the rush hour in a metropolis."

The Elevations series prints are 65cm x 100cm and the Landmark series prints are 50cm x 70cm. Visit studio esinam to view the entire collection and to shop online with FREE shipping worldwide!

Summer Barn House Inspiration

$

I've talked before about my dream of building a big, barn-like summerhouse near the beach. Scandinavian in style with the central focus being a big, open plan living area that opens to the outdoors, it would have wings off each end with ample bedroom space for friends and family to stay. Ideally there would be a high pitched roof along with large windows and doors, and be made from simple materials of wood, steel and concrete. The interior would have that Kiwi bach-feel and relaxed summer vibe. I get lost in the dream more often at this time of year, and love stumbling across homes that further inspire the ideas floating around in my head.

Förstberg Arkitektur och Formgivning (FAF) is a small architecture studio based in Malmö, Sweden, whose projects do just that. Their latest, House with a saw-tooth roof was created for a young family, designed to expand to suit their changing needs. The framework allows for extra rooms to be added, such as an extra bedroom when the children get older, a study if they need to work from home or a spacious bathroom when they can afford it. While this home is actually on two levels, the expansion concept would work perfectly for my summer barn house!

This next project by FAF, House for Mother, is a favourite. I featured the dining room on the blog last year, as part of an interior styling post on white + wood, and always wanted to show you more.

Images via Förstberg Arkitektur och Formgivning

An incredibly light and airy space, this home also features a fabulous built in bookshelf.

Closer to home, this modern Black Barn by Waikato designer Tane Cox of Red Architecture has recently been added to my summer house inspo folder. Ever since receiving the media release last year - it won the 2014 SUPREME National ADNZ | Resene Architectural Design Award - it's also been on my blog must-share list. The clever and economical design consists of two black barn like structures made from simple materials that create a warm, functional, industrial style home. Tane's design ethos is centred around simple designs that fit with their environment. He says his approach to the design is an important aspect that anyone can take on board regardless of whether they want to spend a little or a lot.

Looking through the Menu Spring Summer 2015 collection it's fair to say I am in with love everything. When it comes to crisp Scandinavian design and what they describe as "soft-minimalism"Menu continually takes it to the next level, collaborating with designers from around the world, and coming out with exceptionally beautiful products.

Of course I want everything, but right now the Norm Wall Mirror, Peek Table Lamp by Jonas Wagell and Optical Candlestick by StokkeAusgad would make my heart and home sing.

A recent Instagram discovery (with an exquisite feed and impressive following), Another Feather is run by Portland-based designer and jeweller Hannah Ferrara. Inspired by her travels, simplistic design, ancient relics, and an appreciation for well made objects and heirlooms, Another Feather includes handcrafted metal made jewellery and simple everyday adornments paired down to their most minimal forms. If like me you're a less-is-more kind of girl, her designs which are often described as ‘jewellery for the non-jewellery wearer’ will really appeal.

It's so much fun this time of year seeing all the new collections emerge, and these talented Danish brands certainly keep us on the edge of our seats. The Ferm Living Spring Summer 2015 collection is bright and cheerful, with some highly covetable pieces, such as the stunning black and white Kelim Rug and must-have homewares like these gorgeous pots.

Having gained a dedicated following and earned its reputation as a coveted beauty essential overseas, bkr, the beautifully sleek glass water bottles have arrived in NZ! Now available from Paper Plane, bkr was created by two San Francisco based friends and lawyers, Tal Winter and Kate Cutler, who as intelligent, fashionable, cultured women realised they were drinking out of cheap, disposable plastic water bottles. Wanting something clean, clear, soft and beautiful that felt like a couture accessory and not camping equipment, bkr was born. Each glass bottle comes in a silicone sleeve, which looks gorgeous in every colour. I'm currently deciding which one to choose. Shop the range at Paper Plane.

I love waking up to find exciting press releases in my inbox. Danish brand by Lassen will be presenting their new Spring-Summer 2015 collection at the upcoming Maison & Objet and Stockholm Furniture Fair with two stunning new furniture pieces.

Designed by the visionary designer and architect Mogens Lassen in 1955, Saxe is a distinctive and timeless folding chair. Newly launched by by Lassen to mark the 60th anniversary of its design, the chair unites function and aesthetics with an affectionate nod to the Nordic region's materials. Mogens Lassen was strongly inspired and influenced by his surroundings, constantly experimenting with styles, basic shapes and materials. I love the chair's leather and wood elements and minimal, organic form.

A new version of the by Lassen Twin Table (first introduced to you in this post) has launched with the characteristic reversible table top in brass and misty green. I've always loved the signature cube style of the Twin and its beautifully minimalist form. The raw, yet elegant allure of brass combined with the deep green surface flawlessly compliment the warmth of Nordic wooden floors.

Homes to Inspire | Danish Summer House

It's Auckland Anniversary weekend and we spent a glorious day up at Omaha beach yesterday visiting friends. With very little on the agenda today, I'm stopping by to share this beautiful home with you, which seems very fitting during right now. An old summer cottage built in 1926, it has undergone a huge transformation by owner jewellery designer Charlotte Lynggaard and her family. Located on the East cost of the Danish island of Zealand, it is surrounded water and trees and bathed in natural light. The stunning light streaming in from the expansive windows of the living room below is what initially caught my eye. That and the breathtaking view which actually takes in the Øresund Ocean for as far as the eye can see, and a vague outline of Sweden on the horizon. Bliss!

Also light-filled, the generous kitchen has two dining room tables to accommodate big parties. The pitched roof, wood panelled ceiling and beams further enhance the space, while the beautiful wood flooring adds warmth to the monochrome palette. Elegant and restrained, the interior of this home features some interesting contrasts which add to its overall charm. Touches of Japanese minimalism mixed with classic design pieces such as Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair are mixed with vintage furniture, marble accents and a touch of blue. The overall feeling is one of relaxed calm, perfectly in fitting with the surroundings.

Photography Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer via The Horserider's Journal and Nina Visits

Wooden decking runs around the house leads down the hip, to a small pier allowing the family to enjoy the ocean. All in all a dream summer house, wouldn't you agree?

Ikea Livet Hemma | New for 2015

If you haven't yet discovered IKEA Livet Hemma you will no doubt be pleasantly surprised. In particular I love seeing their collaborations with different stylists who show their expertise by styling even the most basic IKEA products to maximum effect. While IKEA has not yet reached us here in NZ, there are a growing number of companies who ship in products to order. One is online store Akia who lucky for me have recently opened their first retail store near to where I live. I've since been popping in regularly and rarely leave empty-handed!

Kicking off 2015 with loads of inspiration, here are my latest picks from Livet Hemma, where you will find all of the product details for each image below.

Newly renovated this pretty kitchen belongs to stylist Frida who has mixed pastels with black accents and light wood. I especially love the two-toned wall and relaxed family vibe.

Styling and photography by Frida Eklund Edman @fridasfina

A breakfast meeting at a fashion magazine was the inspiration behind this lovely styling by Maria Riazzoli of RIAZZOLI. It features calm colours, natural materials and the light that everyone is craving after a long dark winter in Scandinavia.

Styling and photography by Maria Riazzoli of RIAZZOLI

A must-have item in the 70's and 80's, the glass table is making a comeback as seen here with the IKEA VITTSJÖ.  A nest of tables in glass with dark graphite grey steel frame, I really like the minimalist design. The graphic picture wall in black and white is also spot on!

Styling by Anna L-B and photo by Ragnar Ómarsson

Arriving in stores February, IKEA VALJE is a range of bookcases and wall units that can be easily combined into decorative and personal storage solutions. Easily assembled thanks to the clever construction of wooden dowels and cut-outs that simply click together, I predict these will be very popular, especially that pale grey wood.

This bathroom styling is a standout with it's bold monochrome palette and classic elements like the claw foot bath and subway tiles. It features the IKEA HEMNES series designed to organise your bathroom, regardless of size. I also love the smaller details like the GRUNDTAL round mirrors and the NORDRANA storage bags which would be perfect above our kids bath!

Incy Interiors | Bed Collections

Initially specialising in beautiful designer furniture for babies and children, Australian company Incy Interiors have recently branched out to include beds for people of all ages. Something that founder Kristy Withers says was in response to the requests of their fans, this is great news for children and parents alike. I've picked out a few of their gorgeous beds to share with you.

The Mia bed, just one of many designs on offer, is available in single, king single and queen size. Timeless in style and classic in white, this bed provides the perfect canvas for adding gorgeous layers of bedding and as much personality as you wish. Of course I'm partial to the monochrome styling below, but I'm fairly certain the pink and blush combo would be a dream for any little girl! What's more, you can purchase all of the bedding shown here from Incy Interiors. Along with their own signature collections, Incy stock a huge range of children's interior brands including Kip & Co, Kate & Kate, Aura and La De Dah Kids.

The expertly crafted metal and metallic beds come in a range of styles and colours. The Mae bed above takes me back to my childhood when yellow was my favourite colour. Oh how I would've loved this bed!

In really exciting news, Incy Interiors have recently collaborated with renowned interior stylist Megan Morton to create a Four-poster bed range for all ages. Giving this classic style bed a modern makeover without losing any of its luxurious appeal, I love its simplistic design and clean lines. Designed to compliment both classic and contemporary style rooms, Megan views the bed as the ‘little black dress’ of the interiors world. It's versatility means you can dress it up one day and give it a completely different look the next, demonstrated beautifully below. Made from aluminium that is cleverly flat packed, the beds are available in black, white and a range of custom colours

In addition to the online store, Incy has retail stores in Bathurst and Chatswood, NSW, and a growing number of stockists. Incy Interiors will also be exhibiting at Life Instyle Trade Event, Australia’s destination for homewares and trends, Hordern Pavilion, 19-22 February, 2015.

Hübsch | Danish Home Interior + Design

The kids are back at school next week which brings a sense of relief, especially as the workload increases and the year starts to build momentum. Today has been all about getting organised, picking up the school stationery order and buying a new school uniform. Next up I'd like to get the house in order. The endless picking-up-after-kids has worn very thin and I'm looking forward to having some time to de-clutter and sort out the mountain of toys!

A recent discovery, Hübsch is a home interiors range designed in Denmark. With a strong focus on simple, functional and beautiful products that can enrich everyday life and make your home calm and simple, this is the perfect inspiration right now. Moving into the new year with their latest collection Tendencies, it includes 500 new designs that represent their evolving style, in a mix of materials, shapes and colours. Pretty ceramics in a palette of dusty blues, pale greens and soft greys sit alongside geometric designs peppered with metallic accents. There is also a stunning range of clean lined oak furniture, providing the perfect injection of warmth.

Naturally I'm hoping this beautiful brand will one day make its way to NZ!

Launched in September last year, Hem which is Swedish for "Home" offers high-end furniture with a focus on easy assembly and elegant, affordable design. A collaborative project, you may recognise the designs of the Finnish design firm formerly known as One Nordic that I've featured on the blog before. Following Hem on Instagram since its launch, I've become a huge fan. Their belief that great design shouldn't cost a fortune rings true to their products in every sense, and my heart beats faster every time they post a new photo!

Expanding its offerings with the introduction of seven new collections debuting at the international interiors show in Cologne, the furniture includes new stools, tables, sofas and shelving systems. I'm positively giddy! All designed for easy assembly, many requiring no tools, Hem also offers digital customisation so you can add personal design touches to the furniture, whether it’s the dimensions, colour, or arrangement of shelves.

The Key Coffee Table by GamFratesi and Pal Bar Stools by Hallgeir Homstvedt are high on my wishlist!

Here are some of favourites from their initial debut collection, including the gorgeous Kuu Lamp by Kerstin Sylwan & Jenny Stefansdotter (formerly of One Nordic), and Bento tables and chairs by Form Us With Love. In addition to furniture and lighting, Hem also offer a range of homeware accessories including rugs, cushions, wall hooks and more.

Currently shipping to over 30 countries from their online store, Hem have a retail store in Hamburg and another opening soon in Berlin as well as retail stockists. Fingers crossed they make there way to our shores soon!

Musings + Moodboard

I created this moodboard at the end of last week in anticipation of a quiet weekend, but ran out of days to post it. Probably just as well because as it turned out, the weekend was far from quiet. After endless summer days I had forgotten what it was like to wake to the sound of rain, but it was actually a welcome change and much needed. The kids were full of energy so we kept them busy with indoor activities like rock climbing and a trip to the wave pool. Somewhere along the way I got stuck into some work on one of my current projects. All too quickly Monday arrived and this morning was spent frantically getting everyone ready and out the door on time for the kids first day back. Talk about a shock to the system!

Returning to a quiet home, reality has now set in. I have time to myself again. Time to breathe, and be still. Now I know, the moodboard was really meant for today.

I want to elaborate on a couple of the images above because they are so beautiful. The modular sofa, Vibieffe Evosuite by Innocenti Arredamenti looks so inviting don't you think? And that house... what an exquisite setting.

I love these images by Kowtow Clothing whose art direction for every shoot is always spot on. These have a soft, unique feel to them, and a sense of mystery. Nowadays we are literally bombarded with more beautiful imagery than ever before, not just via fashion mags and ad campaigns but also via the web and social media. In the age of the #selfie and questionable #nofilter, these to me are a breath of fresh air.
